All things Shopify and commerce
Why does Shopify do this? I want to pay as I go, or why doesn’t it pull straight from my balance? I’m new from Etsy and already regretting my decision. Will Shopify change this? Why hook my card up if I can’t make payments when I want to?
Hi, @Lraeclay.
Thank you for reaching out with your concerns about your Shopify shipping billing.
Currently, you are charged for your Shopify shipping labels monthly or once your threshold billing is reached. This allows you to get a detailed invoice with corresponding order numbers and takes into account any price adjustments that may have been made to your shipping labels. I am happy to provide your feedback to our team, as I understand you would prefer to pay as you go.
Please let me know if you have any further questions! I would love to learn more about your business. What type of products do you sell?

I would really appreciate this change as well. Having a huge chunk taken out for shipment every couple of weeks is disheartening. I'd rather just have what's mine deposited into my business account and the rest kept in a sort of "shipping balance" that can be applied toward shipping labels.
Hi, @laurenp1.
Thank you for reaching out and providing your feedback.
I do want to bring to your attention Shopify Balance. Shopify Balance is a set of linked financial products from Shopify designed for merchants, including a money management account, spending card, and cashback rewards. Shopify Balance is an account that Shopify Payments payouts are deposited into (within one business day) and can be used to make purchases both within (themes, apps, shipping charges) and outside of Shopify (inventory, etc.). The transaction of a payout and a shipping charge will still be separate, but this way, it is all in one account and easy to manage.
Please let me know if you have any further questions! I will happily provide your feedback to our team as well.
