Why does ShopPay say 'Too many attempts, try again later'?

I am attempting to make a purchase using ShopPay.  Each time I receive a message indicating “Too many attempts.  Try again later.”  I have tried different browsers, different devices, clearing browser history, but nothing has worked for several hours.  Please advise.

This error message typically appears when there have been multiple unsuccessful attempts to process a payment. It's possible you’ve reached the maximum number of payment attempts allowed within a certain time frame. Shop Pay sets these limits to ensure the security of your transactions and prevent fraud. If you’ve exceeded these limits, you’ll need to wait for a specified period of time before attempting the payment again.

 

Otherwise, are you using a desktop or mobile device? If you can please try the below troubleshooting steps to rule out any other issues;

 

  • Clear your cache and cookies on your browser. After this, completely reboot the browser. 

  • Try a different web browser, as well as incognito or private windows to rule out any browser issues.

  • When using incognito, if you're still experiencing the error, confirm you have disabled browser extensions, as these can change how pages function and look.

  • Ensure your web browser is up-to-date on the latest version (we don't support every browser, but we do support these here).

  • Try another device like a computer or mobile phone.

  • Ensure you do not have any firewalls or pop up blockers enabled on your device, as these can interfere.
  • Have you tried paying via a different payment method or contacted the store to let them know you are having trouble?

None of the above recommended steps worked.  Is there a specified amount of time that is required to pass?   Request was submitted to Shop support.

Glad to hear you reached out to Shop Support! Usually within a few hours you should be able to try again, otherwise I would also suggest reaching out to the store to see if this is an isolated incident or if others are facing the same issue.
