 Why don't the prices on my Shopify product export match the prices from Printful?

I exported a list of all my products for a pricing analysis. I noticed that some of the prices for the products listed on the Shopify export file do not match the listed Printul price for the product. What's going on?

If you're referring to the product pricing (ie. what you charge customers), that would be different than what Printful charges you (ie. you need to charge more on Shopify than Printful is charging, in order for there to be any profit). 

If you're referring to the 'cost per item' and 'margins' -- these would probably be whatever the price on Printful was at the time of creation. I'm not sure if these would update or not, if Printful lowers/raises their pricing, after you've already added the product to your store. 

Another potential issue could be if your currency settings on the Shopify store don't match your currency settings on Printful.

Thanks for the reply. I clearly have included a markup to cover my costs, discounts and Shopify fees. But in some cases, the product export file from Shopify lists Printful product costs at a higher rate. I have also noticed that variants (product sizes or colors) that I have deleted in my Printful application have not been deleted in my Shopify store and vice versa.  I have synched my store from Printful several times and the file doesn't change. I have over 950 variants in my store. How do i keep up with any variations in price from my POD vendor if they don't synch back and forth?

How do I ensure that the payouts from shopify for each product represents the correct charges from Printful?

Am i doing something wrong? I cant' be the only one experiencing this?

You'd probably be best off reaching out to Printful's support team directly with these questions. They'd be the best suited for answering them and explaining how things work with their app. I do use Printful myself, but I only sell one type of product, so it's a lot easier for me to manage, as all products would have the same pricing.

Wow! 

I thought that reaching out to Printful was a great idea, and I was confident that I would receive a quick and easy fix. I was sure it was a matter of me just tweaking some mechanics somewhere.

Not so! It's like I'm falling into a rabbit hole!

This was the latest response from Printful: "Just a heads up that the prices you see in the cost fields may not be completely accurate. This is because they are based on the cost of the blank product at the fulfillment facility where the product will be manufactured, and this can vary between facilities.
 
However, if you want to have the correct price for your product, you can always edit it on your listing. Alternatively, you could try re-adding the product to see if the accurate price is imported. We hope this helps!"

Again, this is not about the price listed on my storefront.  It is about the Cost of the product that I am buying from printful and the ability to accurately monitor it.

How can I monitor the Cost per Item from Printful and make sure our margins are accurate? How can I accurately monitor the Cost per item that Shopify shows in our store? To my knowledge, there is no way to download an accurate file showing the cost per item from Printul vs the list price from our stores?

Try going into your printful account > click into 'statistics' from the left hand menu > click into 'costs' at the top > then click 'by product'. 

This will give you a page showing exactly what printful has charged you VS how much you've sold them for on Shopify (note: the 'sales' price is the price you've previously sold them for, not what they're currently listed at). 

There are links right above the table, to export to CSV/XLSX/PDF.
