Why hasn't my online store payment reached my bank account in Canada?

Hey I started a new online store for my brand and did a test purchase after creating the store using a debit card in the checkout. My store accepted the payment online and I didn’t get the payment into my bank account. Why is this? How much time it will take to process payment in Canada.

I'd love to help you out with your payout concern. Did you use Shopify Payments to pay for the test order? If so, payouts are subject to pay periods and bank processing times, therefore it's expected that you won't find the payout immediately in your bank account as soon as you receive an order. 

 

In Canada, the pay period is 3 business days from the time the payment was processed. Once 3 business days have passed, the payout will be sent to your bank account and it should have a Paid status. Now, banks also have their own processing times. It typically takes them 1-3 business days for them to process deposits, however, this can change at any time depending on their specific terms. I suggest reaching out to your bank for clarification around their processing times.

Just in case you used a third-party payment gateway to pay for the test order, the next best step is to reach out to their support team as they can look into your payouts and provide clarification on when they're going to reflect in your bank account.

 

I'm glad you decided to create a test order before launching your store! This is a great way to see what you need to improve in your store and checkout to provide a better shopping experience for your customers.  Hey,

 

I haven’t received the payout till now. It’s been a week now. The purchase has been made last Tuesday at 4:44 pm. What should I do ?

How can I contact Shopify to know what’s happening with the payouts? I tried to contact them but couldn’t find any resources to help me to reach out to them.

If you haven't done this yet, you can contact our support team for assistance. They can access your account and take a closer look at the payout. You can follow the steps below to create a support ticket:

 

  1. Visit our Help Center.
  2. Chat with the AI assistant and enter "account concern."
  3. Click Chat with a Support Advisor as shown on this screenshot.
