Why is my domain purchase still pending after 48 hours?

I recently have attempted to transfer my old domain from squarespace to shopify however during the process of transferring the domain it kept working and stopped working. So I then resulted in deleting that domain through squarespace and decided to buy a new domain on Shopify. However after buying a new domain and the payment has been processed. Its exceeded 48 hours and the domain still remains as "purchase is pending". I don't know what else to do since there was no email to verify the domain. The only email I recieved was the payment confirmation.

I appreciate the context that you have shared as that is very helpful! Looking into this, when you transfer a third-party domain - it can take up to 20 days to transfer your domain to your Shopify store. With that being said, during the transfer the third-party domain should still work. 
 
In regards to the domain that has been purchased from the Shopify platform - I believe we will need to take a further look into the domain to advise next steps. Since I am unable to authenticate you over the Community forums due to the sensitive information that needs to be shared, I am unable to view the specifics. In this case, it would be best to navigate to our Help Center to get in touch with our live support. 
 
When you arrive at the Help Center, you will need to let the virtual assistant be aware that you would like to Speak with support and you will be connected with a Support Advisor accordingly.
