All things Shopify and commerce
Hello,
My facebook pixel is properly installed on my website (www.concreted.de) but there is an issue. Add to card event is fired (counted) on every page view event. Meaning when I click on any page 2 events are fired; Page view and add to card and as a result I have add to card event counted everytime anyone clicks on any page/link.
This is a major problem when I run ads.
I am using shopify theme "Dawn" and facebook shows me the pixel is properly installed and all active. Any suggestion?
Cheers,
Arash
Hi Arash,
This sounds frustrating. Facebook is making so many changes that sometimes the pixel/dataset gets completely messed up.
I usually like to set up the CAPI through a third party. That way it is easier to do. Do you have a screenshot of how it is setup in your Shopify store?
Hello @IsabellaM and thank you for the reply.
I did set up my meta pixel long ago by choosing the Shopify as partner and used automate option. I spoke to shopify customer service, they told me I need to contact Meta, Spoke to meta and they told me this has nothing to do with them and I need to speak with Shopify....So...no one is taking responsibility. Here is a screenshot:
Make sure that you don't have the pixel and the CAPI firing at the same time, FB is not really good at deduplicating events. This might sound extremely obvious but you can also try disconnecting and connecting again, it might just do the trick.
Thank you so much for the input @IsabellaM
I have completely disconnect meta and reconnect again but the problem is still there, no changes.
I do not know about the CAPI firing, where/how do I check or disable it? This is too frustrating and I am being passed left and right by both Meta and shopify, they both blame each other.
So you have to make sure that you are either connecting through a third party or installing the code manually on the website. If you have both it is possible that an event is firing twice.
If the native integration with Shopify is giving you issues, try doing the manual setup for the CAPI that way you have more control over when the event should fire.
Thank you so much. will try to do that.
