Re: Products in the wrong Collection

Solved

Why is my product appearing in the wrong collection on my site?

Hi,

Im not a total newbie here and havent had an issue until now but for some reason I have an error with a product appearing in the worng collection page on my site.

The products tags are correct, I have triple checked, and on the product page I can see that the auto tags are placing it in the correct collection. However for some reason on the live site this does not appear and instead populates in an incorrect collection page.

Does anyone know what might cause this?

Sparkling Wine Collection Page

The product is MD 20/20 and should appear in:

Fortified Wine Collection

Here is the Product Info showing the associated Collections.

As you can see from the picture below it does not appear in the collection it is shown in on my live site.

Any Help is greatly appreciated.

@JohnGough ,

It is because the wine is not in that collection. It is in a collection named 'Fortified' . Check for that collection and it will appear. If you want to put it inside the Fortified-wine then you should explicitly add it. You can also ensure that it gets added due to auto tagging

No I dont want it to appear in that collection however when you look on the live site it does?

It appears in the collection Fortified but not on the site page. The auto tagging is placing it into the right collection but it is not populating in the correct page on the live site.

There are 2 separate issues

a) It doesn't appear where it should appear and the cause is

You are probably looking at two different collections Fortified-wine and Fortified and this is the source of first confusion in my view.

b) It appears where it is not supposed to appear

I think here also you may be looking at wrong collection then what is being shown on-site, you may want to check for duplicate or similar names

The other reason for non appearance could be filter

I don't think its either of those. I have granted you access so you can see.

Thanks

Please note that it's occuring on both MD 20/20 products.

Haha. Wow, thanks. What was the issue? Probably something stupid I did?

I am having this same issue. I have triple checked tags, and I am seeing products across all collections that do not belong there. What was the solution??

So all the responses with the solution are just hidden ads? "contact for help", but don't show the solution. Waste of time on a community forum where you have people are researching how to fix a solution themselves, and just keep clicking away on the same person saying they have the solution, click here, takes you to another page to "find the solution", and then it's just someone advertising for themselves.  It would be better if someone wants to use this to build themselves up with clients, to at least show the solution- you'd have more luck proving 1 thing you can do, they make people follow breadcrumbs.

I couldn't agree more with you. I'm so annoyed wasting my time reading this post and all comments and nothing really shows!
In fact such questions should be answered directly by Shopify staff. The comments on this post remind me of the "support" AI and its often useless responses.

If you find my answer useful please do like/accept it so I feel more motivated to help in my spare time.
