All things Shopify and commerce
Hi guys,
my website https://nonsin.eu has been quite slower the last days than usually. I tried to check what it could be and found some issues, but none that are new. I looked into the shopify article 50+ Best Shopify Stores to Inspire Your Own (2024) and then checked the first three websites https://hiutdenim.co.uk/, https://www.tentree.ca/ and https://maguireshoes.com/ and realized that also none of those pages are getting higher google lighthouse performance ratings than 54. So I am now guessing that it could be some shopify wide issue? Maybe some high server load issue or something like that?
Can someone confirm or refute my suspicion?
If some can refute my suspicion, do you have an example of a nice shopify page with good page speed.
Before the google pagespeed rating I got for my shop was around 75 - 80, which is ok, but still could be better.
I would appreciate it if someone could help.
Hey Nonsin,
The bigger the store, the bigger the CSS and Dom will be, so contrary to instinct, more succesful stores often have lower speed on Lighthouse.
This does not mean that lower speed is better for ranking, but they might be doing everything within their reach.
Lighthouse also often does not give actual representations of speed anymore, though core web vitals like LCP are still a minor ranking factor.
The number one thing is; does the store /look/ to be loading fast to the user?
Does the layout jump and shift?
On another note, to get high rankings with your store, PDP optimization is really important, and here doing proper keyword and content research is important.
Regards,
Niels
