All things Shopify and commerce
We've been using Shopify POS for our shop for the last three years; it's worked well in that time and we are very happy with it.
Recently, the software indicated that it needs to be updated (currently running version 8.22.2). We run the software on primarily Android platforms; when we go to Google Play store, it brings up that the software is incompatible.
This message occurs on two of our devices: a Samsung Galaxy S6 phone and a Samsung Galaxy Tab A tablet. Specifically, the S6 says that "This app isn't compatible with your device anymore. Contact the developers for more info." The tablet simply says, "Your device isn't compatible with this version."
Both devices are running the latest version of Android 9, so they should be still compatible with POS according to the POS documentation on the Shopify website. Both devices are not jailbroken.
The software still works for the moment, but we are wary of not getting any future critical updates or, worse yet, the day the software decides not to completely work due to lack of update.
Any help is appreciated!
It's super annoying. I'm dealing with it too. @Shopify does not seem to care about things like this. I mean, I still can't ship more than one package for an order without creating a dupe order. For the amount we pay for our shops, they should really do better. I no longer recommend their e-commerce platform to anyone as a result of their lack of attention to these matters.
