Need help! My store https://msm-ecom.myshopify.com is opened for a week but didn’t get any sales yet. I am Adrian elite student but seemed like no difference… I spend too much already for my dream Shopify store. My first campaign is yahoo ad but no sales still for a week now ☹️

Hi, @msm1.

Thank you for your message, I would be happy to offer you some advice on this. First, let me say congratulations on opening your Shopify store, I really enjoyed checking out the shop you have created. It looks like you are offering some really great products for all the customers that I know will be flowing in soon, that said, I did notice a few things that you may want to tweak. It looks like your logo may be slightly blurry, or low resolution:

I would recommend checking out our Uploading Images guide, to ensure you are uploading your logos and store images as per our requirements. Just a friendly note, that if you are using a third-party theme, you may want to check with the developers of your theme as to what their image requirements may be.

I would also consider purchasing a domain name for your store, while you certainly can continue using your .myshopify.com URL, a domain name of your own would help raise the professionalism and branding for your shop. You can actually purchase a domain directly within your Shopify account as well, I recommend taking a read through our Domains guide if you are curious for more information on this.

I also did find it a bit confusing to understand what your store's overall brand was, are you a clothing shop, a home appliance store, a gadget shop or a sort of marketplace that is looking to sell all of these options? While you certainly can do this, I would recommend leaning in towards who your target audience is and basing your products and store trajectory on that. We have a great article that I love sharing with our merchants that talks about increasing web traffic here, that I recommend checking out. It goes over important things you should be asking about your store, such as:

  • Is this a good product? A “good product” means that it’s good enough for your audience and passes their implicit cost benefit-analysis
  • Is there a large target market? A market is a group of people already spending money on something. Are people buying the same type of product?
  • Is there an addressable target market? An addressable market is a group of people with visible shared qualities, already spending money on something. Is there a market segment you can focus on?
  • Is there a great product story and/or compelling copy? You might have a clear “why” for the product in contrast to competitors, but you need to translate that pitch to compelling web copy. Does your product pitch resonate with them enough to purchase?
  • Is there a low-cost way to reach this audience? The goal should be to keep customer acquisition costs low. Are there multiple ways you can reach potential customers?

Another great article to reference is our Traffic but No Sales? guide, which goes over some excellent questions you should be asking primarily about your storefront and design, such as:

  1. Is your main navigation easy to use?
  2. Does your visual brand look professional?
  3. Does your website copy speak to your target audience?
  4. Are shoppers adding products to their cart?
  5. Are shoppers abandoning their carts?
  6. How are visitors scrolling, clicking, and searching your website

It is quite common for a new shop to not see any sales or even a lot of traffic right now and you mentioned only being open for about a week. I would try to not let this discourage you and remember that this is simply the beginning of the process that all successful entrepreneurs must go through before success. You mentioned running some Yahoos ads, this is a great start! Have you looked into any Google Ads? Facebook Ads are also quite popular among our merchants. We have a fantastic guide about Marketing and Promotions that I recommend going through for some more ideas to help get you started.

I hope some of these ideas help you out moving forward, please feel free to reach back out here if you have any questions about the above information, we are always happy to help out!
