Why isn't my purchased domain showing up in Shopify admin panel?

I purchased domain (mymaskus.com) from Shopify Domains section. Everything went smooth, the money was sent, it appears under billing, I got the confirmation email etc. But once I went to Shopify Domains section to make the new domain as my primary, it showed that there has been an unknown error "A store with that domain name already exists" and the new domain isn't even showing up there.

The error would indicate that the domain had a previous owner who attached the domain to their Shopify store. To fix this, you will need to contact Shopify support so they can remove the domain from the existing store. You can do this by logging into your store through the help center, searching your question/issue, then selecting "continue" at the bottom of the page that displays the search results.
