Why my shopify store gets a lot of traffic in a short period

Hi, this question has been bothering me for a long time, my Shopify store always gets a lot of traffic in a short period of time, about 1 time per month. This traffic data only shows up in Shopify Analytics, but in Google Console, Google Analytics, or Semrush, the results are normal.

I guess it's because someone used Python to crawl products from my site.

Or it might be the Google bot.

But indeed it might be a tool, set to crawl and check pricing from your side.

Hi @HKR,

It sounds like you are experiencing spikes in traffic that are only visible in Shopify Analytics but not in other tools like Google Search Console, Google Analytics, or Semrush. This could be due to several reasons:

  1. Referral Traffic: Shopify Analytics might be capturing referral traffic from sources that are not tracked by Google Analytics or other tools. Check your referral sources in Shopify to see if there are any unusual spikes.

  2. Bot Traffic: Sometimes, bot traffic can cause spikes in analytics data. Shopify might be counting this traffic differently than other analytics tools.

  3. Time Zone Differences: Ensure that the time zones set in all your analytics tools are consistent. Differences in time zones can sometimes cause discrepancies in reported data.

  4. Data Sampling: Google Analytics sometimes uses data sampling for large datasets, which might not capture all traffic accurately, especially if the spike is short-lived.

  5. Tracking Code Issues: Verify that your tracking codes are correctly implemented across your site. Any discrepancies might lead to differences in reported data.

To get a clearer picture, you might want to compare the specific times and dates of these spikes across all platforms and investigate any external factors (like marketing campaigns, social media mentions or using the Python to crawl your products) that could be causing these spikes.
