Why oversold item although not allowed?

I'm posting inside this because I'm having issues with overselling item even though overselling is not allowed.

 

Already asked the advisor, but nothing good info came back. The advisor said the option to allow oversell is enabled, but that thing was never enabled.

I thought shopify is the best ecommerce platform? No?
Because i just migrated from Woo since August 2024, but really disappointed with this issue.

Any effective solution?

Hi @svgworldwide There are few things that you need to check to solve this issue, as it's not automatically happening in the shopify:

 

  • You should have enabled the checkbox Continue selling when out of stock , Just verify that it is not checked, follow the steps to check it, and if it is checked then you need to uncheck it.

  • 3rd Party App: Are you using some 3rd party app that have this functionality and due to which it is automatically enabled in your store, if yes then you need to disable the app and the issue will be resolved.
  • POS: If you are using Shopify POS then Continue selling when out of stock doesn't apply to orders placed from Shopify POS. Staff can continue selling products when available inventory reaches zero and below. POS will warn staff before they sell an item that’s not available.
  • Selling in Multiple Location: If you are selling in multiple location then sometime it impacts the other location by overselling the product, You can read the entire article regarding this here: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/products/inventory/getting-started-with-inventory/selling-when-ou...

FYI

 

1. Continue selling ......... is DISABLED

2. We are Not selling in multiple location

3. No POS system is used, fully Online

4. 3rd party plugin used to control purchase limit is AVADA..

 

but when we try to purchase manually, no issue with oversold. It will disabled the add cart / buy button when stock is out.

 

the issue happened when we launch a drop.
