We are trying to get the card reader to connect, the iPad finds it but it doesn't seem to fully connect. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi, @marytaylor
Thanks for reaching out in the Community Forums.
I'd be happy to provide some troubleshooting steps for card reader connection issues in Shopify. It sounds like the issue is it's not connecting to Bluetooth, is that correct? Here are some steps you can follow:
1. Check the card reader's battery level: Make sure the card reader has enough battery power to connect to your device.
2. Restart your device: Sometimes, restarting your iPad and Card Reader can help resolve connectivity issues. Try turning off your device and turning it back on again.
3. Update your iPad's operating system: Make sure your device's operating system is up to date. An outdated operating system can cause connectivity issues with the card reader.
4. Check for app updates: Ensure that your Shopify POS app is up to date. An outdated app can cause issues with the card reader's connectivity.
5. Reset the card reader: If none of the above steps work, try resetting the card reader. You can do this by pressing and holding the power button on the card reader for 10 seconds. Once the card reader resets, try connecting it to your device again.
If you've tried all of these steps and are still experiencing issues with your card reader's connectivity, I would recommend reaching out to our Retail Advisor's for further assistance.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions.
If you are experiencing difficulties connecting your card reader to an iPad, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can follow:
Ensure compatibility: Confirm that the card reader you are using is compatible with your specific iPad model and iOS version. Check the manufacturer's documentation or website for compatibility information.
Check physical connections: Make sure the card reader is securely plugged into the iPad's audio jack or lightning port, depending on the type of card reader you are using. Ensure there are no obstructions or debris in the port that could prevent a proper connection.
I am having the exact same problem and have gone through all of the troubleshooting steps multiple times. Unfortunately, it will see the device but won't connect and says the reader is "unsupported". No one has been able to actually help me. If anyone has any idea how to work this out please let me know.
