All things Shopify and commerce
We got the warning of " No global identifier" early this year , and got "Missing field shippingDetails" and "Missing field hasMerchantReturnPolicy" errors last week.
These are fundamental structures for SEO. It affects all the shopify websites.
Will shopify solve the problems soon?
ANY shopify staffs give a reply?
Same issues for me, my sales dropped as of 2 weeks ago once I started getting the Google errors. I fixed the initial errors per Google, but now the return policy and shipping errors are coming up. It seems like something changed on Shopify's end a couple weeks ago and they're not providing any information.
hello, can you help me solve the problem?
Thank you.
Same for us, we have had this since Sunday 16th April. Causing no end of grief. I get failed GTIN issues all the time, have gone through and removed all Google Services and reconnected and now trying to fix again. Validating doesn't work either. Losing $$$$$
Missing field "hasMerchantReturnPolicy" (in "offers")
Missing field "shippingDetails" (in "offers")
I have same problem at same date, too. It's 16th April.
Yes, I got this from Google yesterday, would be good to get some guidance from Shopify on how to fix this:
Missing delivery information in your merchant listings on your sites
Delivery information is an important factor when shoppers are considering whether to buy products from your website, which means that displaying this information clearly can help improve the success of your online sales. To help Google understand and display your delivery information in shopping results, add delivery structured data.
To help you monitor and fix issues, Search Console is now reporting issues in the Merchant listings report when delivery information is missing or added incorrectly.
I also have a hunch that Google is prioritizing stores that move to GA4 prior to the deadline. Of course, this is something they would never admit because that could possibly get them into legal trouble..but it is typical with a big change like this. The deadline is more of a 'do it before this date or we'll just do it for you', but they are likely already prioritizing GA4 stores now. If you haven't already, make the switch to GA4. Hopefully it helps..I'll be switching today.
I think this would require an update to your theme as it's a new Google feature, see this blog post: https://developers.google.com/search/blog/2023/04/shipping-and-returns-information?hl=en You can try and do what the article says and add the policy through Merchant Center. I'm guessing that since the Google app in Shopify has changed and it looked after by Google now it's now pulling this information from the website.
On v9.0 Dawn, have G4 Analytics. Have everything up to date and yet I am arbitrarily destroyed by Google and Shopify and have less traffic and sales and cannot rectify this. Try explaining this to the boos that my hands are tied.
Hi all,
I always thought that making as explicit and as accessible as possible the delivery conditions and return policy info in each and every product was respectfull of our customers and therefore a good pratice. So since the very begining, I got links to both in every single one of my 8000 product files. Of course google doesn't see that "CAUSE IT'S THERE". So if you need to have a peek at what an intuitively valid workaround that don't work looks like, browse to here : https://kitschalos.com/
p.s. weirdly GSC reports the hasMerchantReturnPolicy missing field in only 288 of my product files. Of course there is nothing I could find that distinguishes these from the others. Here's a bad one https://kitschalos.com/products/osti-djeu-2-version-qc and here's a good one https://kitschalos.com/products/pochette-frida. Please let me know if you can tell how they are different.
This brand one has been there for some time, the other 2 came on the 30th April
After researching all day, I was finally able to resolve these issues on my website. I’m really disappointed that Shopify and Google are not doing more to help because it’s a rather complex issue…
I don’t want to list general directions here because each store is set up differently. Please email my business at info@fancybnails.com if anyone needs help and I’ll walk you through it.
Can you explain where you found the directions in your instance? Everyone here needs help of course, please post the generalities.
For GTIN, brand, and MPN issues, there is a very good discussion on it here:
https://community.shopify.com/c/shopify-apps/google-shopping-gtin-error/m-p/2028379#M61927.
Within this discussion you'll find this link - https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/7450276?hl=en - This is what I followed and it worked, you will need to create rules for transforming your stores data so it is understood on Google's end.

For Merchant and Shipping detail issues:
depending on your theme code, you might have to add structured data to your code. If this is something you're not familiar with, I highly recommend finding an expert to help. If you do attempt on your own, please make a copy of your theme first.
Here is more information on structured data for a different issue, but a good example of-

Hi
I'm also having this same issue with
I have this same issue, please reply Shopify to help us fix this:
Missing field "hasMerchantReturnPolicy" (in "offers")
Missing field "shippingDetails" (in "offers")
No global identifier provided (e.g., gtin, brand)
Do you still need help with this issue?
Yes, it is still an issue.
Hi Adam,
I replied to you in the messages.
Thank you!
Zero help for the community here -_-
Next time how about replying publicly so you can help everyone at once rather than make them come crawling?
I've deleted my affected products instead of asking for your help now.
