I'm trying to help a client get their YT Store set up, but when doing so on YT it requires you to use the Shopify Google & YouTube sales channel. This is problematic because the Google YT app requires you to also sync your products to GMC, but this client has been using a different data feed for quite some time now. So when we sync the products through the Google & YouTube sales channel it now creates duplicates of all their products in GMC. No to mention then we get into issues with analytics tracking, etc.
And if we want to switch to the Google & YouTube sales channel, we'll lose all of our historical data in GMC because this new feed will be using different GMC product IDs.
In fact I think all of our clients are using a 3rd party data feed for GMC, so this is quite problematic.
It would make a lot more sense to just be able to send your product data to YT directly from GMC, but apparently that isn't possible.
I have looked and looked and have not been able to find another method to sync products to to YT, has anyone found an alternative? Thanks!
Having the same issue. I went to the settings and turned it off by choosing to manually choosing on "Product sync setting"
(Manually add your products or sync them using a third-party app: Your products need to be added to Merchant Center in order for them to show on Google.")
