Is there a current course for theme development and liquid/js modification?

I remember a course that would walk you through some liquid / js modification. Is this course no more? I only see what look like very basic sales based training. Are there any classes available now that walk through theme development?

Hi, @alarratt!

Welcome to Shopify Community.

I'd be glad to support you with your question today. Shopify offers a variety of free courses through Shopify Learn that I encourage you to check out using your Shopify account.

While I'm unsure which course you are referring to exactly, take advantage of the search function and type in keywords to help you narrow down your results. If you remember any other words from the title of the course, make sure to try those as well.

In addition to our online courses, we have a variety of blog articles written on theme development that are definitely worth reviewing.

If you have any other specific requests, like how to create a specific effect in your theme then do let me know. I'd be glad to help you with your search.

Warm regards,

Thanks for accepting my reply as a solution, @alarratt!

I wanted to invite you to share the course you ended up going with for any of our future readers that may come across this thread and are looking for something similar.

I also would love to hear more about how your store building is going thus far and if you have any questions about launching.

It appears the Shopify Learn center has been removed since you wrote this February 2023, as other customers have pointed out. Receiving a notification beforehand would have been helpful. Could you provide insights or guide me to where I can find more details about this significant change? I was engaged in various courses, and alternatives like YouTube videos and blog articles are not suitable replacements. Is there an email or press release I have overlooked? I'm seeking clarity on why this is taking paying customers by surprise.

Thanks for touching base with me and updating our thread, @Baij.

You're absolutely correct in that some updates have made to Shopify Learn and much of that content has been archived. Additionally, Shopify Academy has taken that place with an impressive course catalog of its own. To read more about this change or provide feedback, please refer to this existing thread

Many of us, including myself, opted for Shopify's Basic Plan because of its valuable strategic courses, providing step-by-step guidance for beginners. It's worrying that changes were made without informing users on a paid plan, and the communication lacks clarity, even in your marketing materials. Suddenly removing content without any email notice to your paid users raises transparency concerns.

The replacement "courses" come off as vague, sales-oriented, more like partner commercials than comprehensive learning material. We're not happy with these recent changes.

While it's fine to make pricier plans better, taking away courses from the basic plan without giving us a heads up isn't cool.

Clicking on the Shopify Learn link now takes us to The Academy, labeled as «exclusive to Shopify Plus,» which doesn't sit well with us. Losing access to content we used to get with our paid plan also makes it less valuable.

«The Shopify Plus Academy is an online training program with exclusive content for Shopify Plus plan users. It includes self-directed courses covering Shopify Plus, ecommerce best practices, and technical integrations.»
