Hi team,

this trigger is not working when a customer abandons browse.

when I test this flow by signing up for emails using for then close page / leave website.

the trigger isn’t starting.

the only thing that starts the trigger is when I and opt into email marketing and then abandon checkout … but the flow always halts on The next step after the trigger because the abandonment type must be browse abandonment to continue.

Pretty sure the customer has to be logged in. You might need to create a test customer if you already received such an email from your shop

Hey there! this is Alexis from Akohub.

It sounds like you’re having some trouble with the "Customer left online store without making a purchase" trigger and it can definitely be frustrating! Here are a few tips that might help you get things running smoothly.

First, double-check the trigger settings in Shopify Flow to make sure it’s set specifically for browsing abandonment, not checkout abandonment. Shopify Flow can be a bit particular with these types of triggers and often only activates if the customer has provided their email or opted into email marketing. If they haven’t, the flow might not start as expected.

If you’re still having trouble, it might be worth trying different scenarios, like testing with a logged-in customer who just browses versus one who reaches checkout but doesn’t complete. Sometimes these variations can help pinpoint where the flow is getting stuck. Another option is to consider a more specialized tool, like Ako Retargeting, which is particularly good for browse abandonment and can capture visitor behavior even if they haven’t made it to checkout. It can re-engage customers by displaying ads or sending emails, which helps bring back those potential buyers who showed interest but didn’t complete a purchase.

Lastly, keep an eye on any delays in Shopify Flow, sometimes there’s a lag before the trigger activates, so give it a few minutes to see if it eventually kicks in. Hopefully, one of these tips helps! Let us know how it goes, or if you’re still having trouble, we can help troubleshoot further.
