How can I create multiple invoices from one draft order?

hello, I am trying to figure out if there is any way to create multiple invoices from one draft order/estimate/sales order. For example, I would like to make a sales order for a customer for 3 different items, then I would like to make an invoice for one of those items so the customer can pay for and I can ship it then later make a separate invoice for the remaining two items so the customer can pay for those and I can ship them separately. Creating two separate invoices from the start does not work for me because I do not know when I will get each item in and ready to ship.
