Shopify Flow is an ecommerce automation platform that enables you to automate tasks and processes within your store and across your apps.
I make a mistake where the abandoned checkout notification was changed to use the Flow app instead of the default settings in the Shopify platform. This caused a discrepancy in the email templates used for notifications, as the Flow app was utilizing the Shopify email template instead of the Customer Notifications email template available in the settings. Can anyone to find a solution to reverse this change and revert back to using the Customer Notifications email template for abandoned checkout notifications.
Hi @Yogurt_Li You might want to try disabling the abandoned checkout flow in the Flow app first. Then, go to the Notifications settings and enable the abandoned checkout notification there. I hope this helps! Let me know if you need any further assistance.
Hi Kate, it doesn't work. the abandoned checkout did not show on "Settings-Notification". Thank you.
Yes, you're right. The email template is located in Settings > Notifications, while the switch can be found under Checkout and Marketing > Automations. I couldn't reproduce the issue you mentioned on my end, but it might be helpful to check those two areas to see if anything looks off.
Hi Kate,
Click "view template" on the top right corner, you can see the "Abandoned Checkout", then click "turn on automation". Thank you.
Are there specific reasons why you wish to revert? Are you not able to re-create the old liquid email in Shopify Email?

Hi TJ,
1. it can not share the default template which on "Settings-Notification-Customer notifications". The default template is more safer to keep the rate of inbox. And Sharing the default template saves us a lot of time.
2. We found out once Abandoned Checkout notification was full controlled via Shopify Flow App, it will always have an "Unsubscribe", regardless of whether the guest has subscribed or not.
OK, thank you for the detail!
The new abandoned checkout marketing automation was built to replace the one currently in the Settings area of the admin, and allows much more flexibility in the setup because it's powered by Flow—this means you can now more easily change things like how long it waits to send the email, and the visual design of the email. The legacy notification will also be deprecated soon (exact date still TBD).
These emails are classified as marketing emails, so it defaults to requiring consent, but you can override this and send to all customers, regardless of consent, from within the email set up itself—you will see that option if you click on the "To" field when you edit the email that is part of this automation. You can also tweak the design of the email in the same place as well—we don't have a way to mirror the exact template used in notifications, but you can edit the email design more easily than you can for other notifications.
Finally, for the unsubscribe, since the email is considered marketing, and will be sent to both customers who are subscribed and not subscribed, having the link is necessary.
