Hi all,
I'm setting up a Shopify Automation (flow) for a product we have on our store. The product is a ticket for an in-person training class, and so when a customer purchases the item we need to send them an email with info about lodging, class times/location, food, etc.
I have an automation workflow set up that does this, however when creating the 'marketing email' for the order there's no option to deselect 'To: Customers subscribed to email marketing'. I understand why, as CAN-SPAM regulations are pretty strict, but our use-case falls under the transactional or relationship content and we shouldn't need the opt-out.
Is there a workaround or other way to do this? We need the emails going to all customers whose order contains the product, not just those who order it and happen to be subscribed to our marketing list.

Hello,
At this time there is no way to use the `Send marketing email` action to send to customers who aren't subscribed to email marketing. The only way around this currently is to use a third-party app's email action in Flow.

Hey Jeff,
Thanks for the reply. With as powerful as Flow is, it seems like a bit of an oversight to not be able to send regular, non-marketing emails to customers...
Transactional email is a whole product in itself. For example, Flow cannot guarantee that the email would not be used for marketing purposes, and one customer could quickly bring down the whole system for everyone by spamming customers (and causing inboxes to start blocking any Flow emails). If you look around at other automation platforms, they typically don't give you any email capabilities but instead make you use your own service via IMAP/SMTP or a 3p (like Flow does).
Found an app for transaction emails, newly created. I posted more info in another thread: https://community.shopify.com/c/shopify-flow-app/email-customer-as-part-of-flow/m-p/2464272/highligh...
