Accessing product meta fields via script editor

Can someone point me to an example on how to access product metafields via the script editor?

Unfortunately, metafields are not exposed in the Script Editor:

If you're not expecting frequent changes to these metafields, and depending on your requirements, you might want to consider passing the metafield data through to the script editor as line item properties.
