Can Script Editor fire Google Analytics code on checkout?

I want to pass to Google Analytics and Event (or contained inside eCommerce) the orders count so that I can see 'First time purhcases' in GA

Looks like the '.orders_count' variable is available, can I use that to fire GA code that contains that number upon every successful purchase?

No, It's not possible with Script Editor. You can probably use webhooks to look for orders created  by new users and then trigger an event for GA.
