Footer Error "Liquid error: Error in tag 'section' - 'footer' is not a valid section type"

"Liquid error: Error in tag 'section' - 'footer' is not a valid section type"

This error comes up on my website where the footer used to be after I deleted the "footer.liquid" file. I also deleted the "header.liquid" file and had the same issue, but I fixed that by creating a new "header.liquid" file and inserting some code into it. When I tried to create a new "footer.liquid" file, I get an error on the Shopify script editor: "New schema is incompatible with the current setting value. Invalid value for type in block '1494301487049'. Type must be defined in schema..New schema is incompatible with the current setting value. Invalid value for type in block '1571553525051'. Type must be defined in schema..New schema is incompatible with the current setting value. Invalid value for type in block '1494292487693'. Type must be defined in schema."

Can someone help me figure out why I get this error when I try to make a new "footer.liquid" section and how I can get past it so that I can get rid of the "Liquid error: Error in tag 'section' - 'footer' is not a valid section type" error? Thanks.
