How can I manage inventory for different product lengths in an automotive vinyl wrap store?

We're putting together a store for a customer and have reached a stumbling block.

The store stocks automotive vinyl wraps, and each colour/finish is available in 5 variations, 3m, 5m, 10m, 15m, 18m with different pricing obviously based on length, and finish. We've set this up so far using a 3rd party app, as how we initially set it up using variants in the product admin meant there were 5 different quantity values.

How the customer wants it to work, is that in the inventory, he enters his stock as for example 60 metres, for one particular colour and finish in one place.

If the customer orders 15m, he cuts 15m off his roll of 60m and the stock value would then be 45m.

The way we currently have this setup with the app for the variations works, for ordering at the front end, but in the back end on the inventory, whichever variant/length option is chosen, it only deducts 1 unit from the total stock metreage.

Is there another app, or apps that can control this. 

Or, does this require some bespoke coding, to sync the two together? - any help or advice gratefully received.

For your client's store, I recommend considering the Easify Product Options app as a viable solution.

Rather than creating length variants that might not deduct inventory correctly when selected, the app allows you to set up a Quantity field. This field enables customers to input their desired length, linking these values with each Finish variant to accurately calculate the total price and deduct inventory accordingly 🤗.

• Create the base Vinyl Wraps product (to be hidden on the storefront) with Finish options and variants (e.g., Matte and Gloss). Specify the quantity of each variant and the price per meter.
• Create the main Vinyl Wrap product (visible on the storefront) with no options, variants, or price.
• Install the app and create an option set.
• Add the option to select the Finish, using an appropriate option type like Buttons, with 2 values: Matte and Gloss.

• Add the option to enter the desired length (meter) when customers select the Matte option, using the Quantity option type. Link this option value with the Matte variant of the base product. Implement conditional logic to display this Quantity option only when Matte is selected.

• Similarly, create the Quantity input field for customers who choose "Gloss".

• Finally, add the option set to the main Vinyl Wraps product.
