How to Edit Show Only Selected Variant Media on AURORA THEME

Hi,

Aurora Theme actually has this feature, however I want to optimize it as their feature is currently showing images in corrispondence to their alt tag being "{variant name}", so if I had 2 Color variants (Green and Blue) for my page i must modify their alt tag to be "Green" (for the images i want to show up when green option is selected) and to "Blue" (for the images i want to show up when green option is selected)

However I wanted to be able to use my custom alt also, changing the feature to this:

• To specify an image that would be visible only for the color "red" (assuming the option for the variant is called Color), and use your custom ALT tag: Red t-shirt for men #color_red

If your color is made of several words (for instance "Deep Blue"), then you must write the color name in lowercase WITHOUT any separator between each words of the color.
For instance, the correct alt tag would be:
#color_deep blue".

Would it be impossible for someone to please help me? 
I think I must go into collection.liquid and change the variant id there

Hi! This is Ann from the Aurora Dev Team. We are currently busy re-doing this image sorting feature and your contribution is of much help. I've passed it over to our devs. And I'll let you know here, once the new "Show Only Selected Variant Media" is ready.

Unfortunately, this is not a minor improvement and can't be delivered that quickly. Moreover, each theme update is a bunch of changes and fixes, that need to be detected, tested, and later also approved by Shopify before release, which adds extra time. So, this cannot take a couple of days. As for the personal code, we don't provide customization services, for we don't have a dedicated team. 

What I can guarantee is that we'll improve the feature, because it's been requested by many merchants, and will notify everyone interested upon the rollout.

Hi Ann! I have a question you may be able to answer: On the Aurora theme, is there an option to hide all variant options that don't exist? We need all currently OUT OF STOCK options to be greyed out, but all the options that we never offer should be permanently hidden. How do we do that?

Hi! Sorry, but there's no way to hide the unavailable options with the theme settings as they are. Such options show as crossed out and greyed out and, as an indicator of the non-existing variant, the 'Add to cart' button changes to 'Unavailable'. That's how the regular 'Variant picker' block works in Shopify, and themes from the theme store are not allowed to alter this block's configuration. You can achieve what you need with custom code, but, I'm afraid, I can't help you with such customizations as that's beyond our support.
