Overcome 100 limit of variants using Metafields - Impulse Theme

I need some help with Metafields. I am developing a Phone Case store. I have already 90 models of devices options. And we also have 2 types of phone cases. Snap or tough. Since Shopify allows only 100 variants per product, creating 2 types of cases for 90+ models of phones, that's around 200 variants. I saw a demo for overcoming the limit by using metafields, display the metafields as variants and once the variant is selected, it would redirect to another product. But it was for a different theme and just to offer a custom quote. I want to learn this by myself. I am using Impulse theme.
Let me know if it's possible.

If your a dev start here: https://shopify.dev/docs/themes/product-merchandising/variants

Beyond that you need to drastically narrow the scope of the question.

Yes of course it's possible as an advanced theme customization.

It's beyond the scope of a forum conversation,  what your asking is overlay broad per implementation and also vague because of how many individual parts there are while not providing any work on code so far.

Your asking how metafields work, and how to not just fake variants in a select but build a custom variant option selection UI, and how to build links in javascript, and how to redirect, etc etc etc ad nausem.

All of which varies WILDLY by theme and store structure.

If you need this customization actually  built for you then contact me by my email for services.
