Select best selling product of category for badge

We want to implement product badges in our store. We have the idea to add "most popular (categoryname)" per category. Is it possible to use a code in shopify to attach such a badge to the most sold product of a category and what would this code look like?

So that the badge is automatically linked to the most sold product of that category, and that the category name is visible in the badge. So that the badge in the garden furniture category becomes "most popular garden furniture".
