Spend X Get Y - Auto add to cart

Hi,

I need a way to automatically add item Y to cart when they spend X amount in the store without having to use a premium app.

Can anyone help?

I'm working on a script that does just this. But a few questions to see if it would even be helpful for you.

1. This forum is for the Script Editor app. Are you asking for a Shopify Script?
2. If you are looking for a Shopify Script, this automatic addition would only occur at checkout. Does that work? (Shopify Scripts don't affect the cart pages)
3. Would the item need to be automatically removed if the total goes below a certain amount? (or maybe just show some kind of message?)
4. How would you prefer to identify the product? By Product ID, tag, type or something else?
