Re: How do I find the files that I need?

Solved

Where can I locate the necessary files for theme modifications?

So I've found tons of solutions on the shopify community for my problems, but I just cant find the files that are mentioned. For example, I need to find "theme.scss.css" but only "theme.liquid" exists, and putting the code there doesn't work. Maybe it was to do with versions of shopify or something, but how do I use the old solutions?

Thanks for any help.

This is an accepted solution.

Thank you so much for that context, @Simonju.

Dawn is one of our Online Store 2.0 Themes, which means that code solutions that were recommended for our vintage themes (such as Debut in the linked forum) will not work.

In cases like this, if you are unable to find code solutions for your specific theme, I suggest creating new forum threads with specific questions about customizing your theme. For example, if you're looking to make styling pages to your home page, you can create a new question with the exact result you are looking for.

I trust that provides some insight, but if you still have questions please don't hesitate to let me know.

Warm regards,

Hi, @Simonju!

Welcome to Shopify Community. I'd be glad to assist you today.

Our forums are definitely a treasure trove of code solutions and recommendations on bettering businesses. When editing theme code, it's important to be comfortable working with basic HTML/CSS and to have a backup copy of your theme on hand.

Once you're ready to start making changes, you will begin to notice that the code solutions aren't always a perfect fit for your particular theme. Since each theme is different, it's difficult to find universal code solutions that won't produce unexpected results.

Files ending in .css are used specifically for styling purposes, which is why the same code in .liquid files won't work. In your case, please go ahead and let us know which code implementation you are attempting and which theme you are using for accurate advice from our community.

We'd be glad to help,

Hello, thank you for your answer.

This is the forum i was referring to:

https://community.shopify.com/c/shopify-design/debut-theme-main-image-is-darker-than-it-should-be-is...

Where i want to paste:

.hero-fixed-width::before {
content:none !important;
}

into theme.scss.css like it was mentioned.
