Editing email notification code in secondary language

I am editing my email notification templates, however, there is no option to edit the code of secondary languages.

My main language is English and my secondary languages are German and Dutch.

So when I go to myshopify.com/admin/settings/notifications I click on, for example, Order confirmation.

There is a dropdown of English, German and Dutch. But whichever I click on, when I then click on 'Edit code' it will always go to English. There is no option at all to change to a secondary language.

Anyone who can explain to me how to do this?

Hey @ThomasO , I can see that confusion and we'll take a look. The drop down is for the preview. 'Edit code' is for editing the default language notification. Editing of additional languages happens in apps. If you've got Translate & Adapt then you'll see a menu item called 'Localize', which will take you to the app and you can edit your German and Dutch there.

Hi @ThomasO Did you manage to fix the issue? We're having something similar, but @richbrown_staff 's answer does not quite answer our issue.

We modified the order confirmation email to customize the template. We then localized the content in translate & adapt. However, when we want to preview the French version, it shows the default shopify template, not our customized and translated version of the order confirmation.

@richbrown_staff Can you help me understand? I want to make sure that no one receives the default template.

Thanks

EDIT : Found the problem. The language set up in my shopify was not set up properly. All good now.

Hi @ThomasRousselot , glad you've solved - we're keen to understand where things are confusing, when you say the language setup was not set up properly, is there anything we could make clearer there? Thanks

Hi Rich,

I am having this same issue, please can you provide some advice. I want to translate my custom templates from Klaviyo. But the translate and adapt app is only translating the basic default shopify ones.

Hi @joeloughran - Translate & Adapt can only access content stored on Shopify databases. For Klaviyo it's best to speak with them about their current translation capabilities.

Hi @ThomasO the way this works could be clearer. The drop down you see in myshopify.com/admin/settings/notifications is only for preview. It is not where you edit notifications in different languages. Assuming you'Ve got the Translate & Adapt app, you'll see a page action saying 'Localize'. This will take you to where you edit notifications in different languages. You can also get there by going to the app and selecting 'Notifications'.

German and Dutch are fully supported languages, so will have prefilled notifications when translating. If they don't, let me know.
