Hi! I recently bought a domain on name cheap, I changed the DNS settings on the name cheap to the settings that were provided to me by shopify, but it says that the A and CNAME are entered incorrectly.
Here's a simple, quick fix to that problem. If NameCheap is your website hosting services provider, follow these steps;
1. Log in to your Namecheap account. 2. From the left sidebar, select "Domain List" and click on the Manage button next to your domain:
3. In the Nameservers section, select your preferred option (in your case, the CNAME Record and A Record must be changed/corrected). Use the drop-down menu and click on the green checkmark to save the changes.
You can follow these steps to diagnose and rectify the situation.
-> Make sure that you have accurately entered the A and CNAME records in your Namecheap DNS settings. Be vigilant for any typographical errors, extra spaces, or missing characters in the records.
-> Keep in mind that changes to DNS settings might not be immediately visible across the entire internet. While changes typically become effective within a few hours, it's possible for the propagation process to take as long as 48 hours.
-> Confirm that you have correctly copied and input the A and CNAME records provided by Shopify. Remember that these values are distinct to your specific Shopify store.
-> Ensure that you have appropriately positioned the A record and CNAME record within the relevant sections of your Namecheap DNS settings. Typically, the A record is designated for the root domain, while the CNAME record pertains to the subdomain.
-> In certain cases, issues might arise due to your local DNS cache. Attempt to resolve this by clearing both your browser's cache and your computer's DNS cache. Additionally, you can employ online tools to examine the current DNS records associated with your domain.
-> If you've meticulously reviewed the aforementioned steps and the problem persists, it's advisable to contact the customer support teams of both Namecheap and Shopify. They possess the expertise to assist you in conducting a more in-depth investigation into the matter.
