How can I improve the speed of my pet store website?

Hello my name is James and recently I started a Shopify store for my love of pets. I teamed up with a company called viral vault and bought into one of their memberships that allow me to sell products from them and used their executive services to have them build me a website. Now even though I’m a serial entrepreneur and I have other businesses this is my first online E business and I’m a little disappointed with the way the site performs, it’s really slow @ 42 last check.

Furry-Friendsstore.com is the site… as a newbie can someone check on this for me and give me some pointers for a fast successful store..

Thank you in advance!

James

James,

You will almost certainly need to hire someone.

The speed issue has two components. Speed Score and Speed Perception

By optimizing your assets and content, you can improve your speed score. As a general rule, images must be compressed. However, some apps that inject javascript may cause your store to slow down. Try to use apps in the Shopify app store that have the "Work with Latest Themes" and "Low Impact to Speed" badges. An expert can pin point all issues in your store and suggest fixes.

Assume your speed score is perfect. Your website may still appear to be slow. This occurs when the page loads slowly or if the Shopify theme has a loading effect/animation.

We have an app solution for the speed perception problem, which is free. You can use our app and it should feel very fast even though your speed score is not perfect. It is a great way to make sites feel fast, a method used by developers for years. We call our app "Turbo".

So my recommendation would be:

- Work with an expert to see which elements impacts speed the most
- Use a page speed optimizer app like Pasilobus Turbo

Hello James,

I checked your store, your website is very good in design, I can see your love for the pets in it 🙂

I ran your website into the speed test and there are some concerns I found that you can work on.

1. Remove unnecessary apps and ask their support to remove the code (your theme has third-party app code in it)

2. Reduce javascript files or minified it

3. the First image takes a lot of time to load, you should compress images on your store

Follow the below tips that will help you decrease the load on your web pages.

1. Image compression is important and a necessity for faster loading web pages. Make sure your images are of good quality and do not add too many images on a single page.
2. Reduce the HTTP requests. For example: Combine & inline your CSS scripts
3. Minimize broken links and redirects - Avoid unnecessary Redirects and fix broken links
4. Using slideshow, which are high-quality images combined with transitions, take time to load when the user clicks the link to the homepage. So instead you can use a single high-quality hero image.
5. Always choose a theme that is responsive, fast, and takes minimal time to load the page
If you choose a theme with numerous sliders, fancy animations, advanced navigation systems, etc., will affect your page speed. If your theme is loading slow, consider disabling the theme features you don't need.
6. Use a theme which is optimized for performance means a theme which is responsive, fast, and takes minimal time to load the page.
7. To reduce the initial load time, you can use Lazyload technique
8. Themes contain CSS, JS, HTML which can increase and affect your store speed. So disable theme features you don't use.
9. Use a System font which is a font that is already installed on most computers. For example: Segoe UI, Times New Roman. If you use a font that does not yet exist on your customer's computer, then the font has to be downloaded before your text can be displayed. This impacts the time that your store takes to load.
10. Use minified CSS and JS files
11. Remove third-party JS scripts and Shopify App which you are no longer using
12. Avoid unnecessary redirects and fix broken links
13. Don't add too many images on a page
Adding too many images on a page can be frustrating. It can significantly slow the load time of your website. Also, it can overwhelm visitors, which will ultimately result in a poor user experience, a high bounce rate, and a high probability of lower rankings in relative search results.

If your website takes longer than 3 seconds to load, 40% of your traffic will be lost. Speed will affect the Google indexing. When your customers search on Google, your product can be found only if your page is indexed. flareAI helps to get your new products found on Google. So, If I purchase your app, pay the one time service fee of $19.99, pay the
monthly fee of a minimum $5/ month and give you 1% of each sale …you’re
saying this app will fix everything you mentioned above? Or do I have to
hire another expert to do that after I buy this app.
