There seems to be a delay to the change of score after adding and removing code. Knowing the update frequency would sure help when testing apps and codes changes.
For instance, I added an app and my score went down by 4. I removed the app and replaced it with another. My speed has remained the same (-4) but I want to be sure that is current before removing the second app.
Thanks for any help.

Your speed score is recalculated daily. Reference: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/online-store/os/store-speed/speed-report
If you want to dive deeper into the Shopify speed score, what it means, how apps affect it, recommendations, etc, I wrote an analysis based on insights from my team (Speed Boostr, the Shopify optimization agency) - https://speedboostr.com/shopify-speed-tool.

However, the speed did increase a couple points this morning, 5 days after the changes, so it keeps me guessing;)
That's normal because they use the Google Lighthouse API. It's the same reason you can get 2 different scores on Google PageSpeed Insights (it uses Google Lighthouse as well) on back to back runs, or without changing anything. They're estimated scores and your website can load differently every time depending on factors like server loads of all the resources at the exact time the page loads.
