Online store performance and site speed optimization
Hi,
We are running our website on Shopify. Currently using Dawn Theme. We have over 400 products and over 1200 images. We categorize them into a few collections.
As we upload more products with 3-4 images, we checked the site speed and our speed is 38 which is slower than other stores.
Our setup is using the Shopify Basic Plan and our theme is Dawn (v8.0.0). We also installed 12 apps. One of them is TinyIMG where we have optimized our image size. Currently, the image size 30-50kb.
Therefore, we would like to seek advice here on how to improve our speed to at least 50 and above.
Cheers,
Elwin
Hi Elwin,
First you need to uninstall the unused application from the store. Remove the unused css and js code from the site.
Thanks

Hello @elwinlim15,
I am Gina from flareAI app helping Shopify merchants get $5Million+ in sales from Google Search, on autopilot. Hope you are having a good day.
Here are some steps you can take to improve the speed of your Shopify store.
1. Optimize images
You're already using the TinyIMG app to optimize image size, but you can also consider compressing images further with tools like ShortPixel.
2. Use lazy loading
Lazy loading allows images to load only when they're needed, instead of loading all images at once. Shopify's built-in lazy loading feature can be enabled in your theme code.
3. Minimize app usage
The more apps you use, the slower your store can become. Evaluate which apps are essential and remove any that aren't necessary.
4. Use a fast theme
Some Shopify themes are faster than others. Consider using a faster theme, or optimizing your current theme for speed.
5. Minimize HTTP requests
Reduce the number of HTTP requests your website makes by combining CSS and JavaScript files, and reducing the number of images and videos on your website.
6. Optimize your code
Optimize your theme code by removing any unnecessary or redundant code. You can also minify your HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files to reduce their size.
7. Reduce the number of apps
Consider reducing the number of apps you use on your store. While apps can add valuable features to your store, they can also slow down your site if they are not optimized or essential.
8. Optimize product and collection pages
Optimize your product and collection pages by reducing the number of images displayed on the page, using smaller image file sizes, and implementing pagination.
By following these steps, you can improve the speed of your Shopify store and provide a better user experience for your customers.
