Feedback for your online store from the community
Hi,
Looking for feedback and insight on my website, please. Any advice would be appreciated. Please be kind. 🙂
Also, how many products should I have before I begin to introduce my store to the general public? I'm adding all the time but wonder when I should start getting it out there.
Thanks so much.
Jeanne

Hey @JeanneM13
Sorry for the delay between each response. I think Refresh theme doesn't have that option.
You can try this code by following these steps:
Step 1: Go to Online Store->Theme->Edit code.
Step 2: Search file theme.liquid
Step 3: Paste the below code at the bottom of the file -> Save
slideshow-component.slider-mobile-gutter.mobile-text-below ,
.slideshow__media.banner__media.media,
.slideshow__text-wrapper.banner__content.banner__content--bottom-right.page-width.banner--desktop-transparent.scroll-trigger.animate--slide-in {
height: 30vw !important;
}
Hope it helps!

Hello @JeanneM13
I'm Garcia, an CRO expert from PageFly, a Shopify Advanced Page Builder App. I'd like to express that your store appears impressive! Your product range is quite diverse, and what's even more appealing is that they are available at very competitive prices. However, I have some suggestions for you to improve your store:
1. Apply 5 - second rule
Online users typically have short attention spans, and if they don't immediately find what they're looking for or a reason to stay, they may leave your website. Thus, I recommend to reduce the hero banner so the text, CTA button show within one screen view.
2. Optimize Featured products section
3. Add more sections on Homepage
4. Display or Link to an Easy-To-Read Return Policy from Within the Product Page
Uncertainty about return policies can be a barrier to online shopping. By providing a clear and accessible return policy, you reduce any uncertainty and hesitation that customers may have.
5. Regarding to your questions
While there's no exact number of products that universally applies to all businesses before introducing a store to the general public, having around 20 to 30 products is often considered a reasonable starting point. However, this number can vary based on several factors, including your niche, target audience, and marketing strategy.
Hope it helps!
Garcia

Hello Garcia,
First of all, I'm grateful that you responded to me here and not via texting elsewhere like countless others have done. That's just annoying (and probably not allowed by Shopify?) I don't know. Anyway, thank you.
I read your advice and will do what I can to make some of the changes you suggest. The possibilities are endless, and the instructions are overwhelming, so one baby step at a time is all I can do, right? I've never dealt with Shopify before.
1. Can you tell me quick how to change the size of the hero image? I've been wanting to do that and can't quite find the solution.
2, 3, 4 and 5. Oof. Overwhelmed. But I will pick away at it and see how far I can get. I may have to hire someone (You?) to help me but am trying to do things as much as I can myself because I like to know the nuts and bolts of things.
Thanks again, so much.
Peace
Jeanne
Hi Jeanne @JeanneM13
1. Depend on the theme and the version but you can try this way:
2. Taking things one step at a time is a wise approach. Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it gradually and I am here with you. Unfortunately, I am not a freelancer so if you have any question, please let me know I will try my best to answer all within my knowledge. If you wanna edit by yourself without using code, you can consider to use page builder app such as PageFly, Shogun, ... Most of them have free plan.
Hope it helps!
Cheers

Garcia,
I still cannot find the place in my theme (Refresh) to change the size of the hero image. Where else might I find this option, please?
Thanks,
Jeanne

Thank you!
Now, by any chance, do you know how I might get the Home page to scroll down to the Collections after clicking on the "Shop All Products Here" button? Otherwise it just sits there and you have to manually scroll down. Thanks.
You are welcome @JeanneM13
As for implementing the scroll to section feature, apologize but I have little knowledge about this request, and it could potentially involve checking and editing your theme's code. If you're not comfortable with coding, I recommend considering the use of a Shopify page builder app to achieve the functionality you're looking for. Page builder apps often offer user-friendly, code-free solutions to create the desired user experience on your website.
Cheers,
Garcia

Hi there,
Thanks so much for your input. I have printed out your suggestions and will plod along in trying to find the means and ways of accomplishing some of these. This learning curve is HUGE and overwhelming right now. I still can't figure out how to make the hero image smaller. Everyone is telling me, but I'm not finding what they're telling me. 😁
Hi Jeanne,
Clayton Bates here. Registered Shopify Expert.
Few Tips Below
1 Homepage
Needs to flow this page. First three sections should be all about selling
Recommend something like the below
2 Product Page
I'd remove "Tax included." everyone knows this is going to happen and it's taking up important space. This video shows you how to remove
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2NFAog_nb8
I'd also build out the description a little more. Something like this might be good
I’d add product tab for the below
I'd think about adding reviews. Basically 5 ways to do reviews.
This video explains them in detail
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DP6Xhlr_Q0
3 Site Navigation
This is so important to make it easy for users to navigate the website. About 33%+ of people use the site navigation on website. The footer menus are also really important.
I made a detailed video going over how you can update this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQbxMz0eMhY
4 Checkout
Add logo and colors here. This video shows you how
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRou9ME_WHo&t=53s
I'd also add special instructions into your cart. About 1/10-20 people leave special instructions and this is good for customer support.
5 Mobile friendly
Just needs some tweaks. The below link has lots more free videos to learn from also

Pretty much anything is possible when you put your mind to it.

Clayton,
Wow! Thanks for the feedback. I will go through your list a little at a time and see what I can figure out. Yikes! It's like learning another language.
And yes, you're right. Anything is possible when you put your mind to it. I can do this.
Peace
Jeanne
