Hi Community,

I have spent the last two weeks trying to connect my google .com.au domain to my shopify account withouth success. Both Shopify and Google guidelines seems to be outdated and I was not able to get this thing set up properly till today. Therefore, I am just sharing what I did in order to save you from the trouble in case you are facing the same challenge I did. Hope it helps.

On Shopify, go to Settings> Domains > Connect existing domain.

Then

 1- Add your domain

2- Click on verify connection

3 - The Parameters you see under A record and CNAME record are the ones you need to enter on google domain DNS settings as per below.

4 - Hang tight, I know it annoys you as you read this, but it will make sense in a minute.

1 - Log in into google domain - https://domains.google.com/

2 - On the left hand side, click on the DNS section

PS.: You would probably be looking for "A" record and CNAME but they are a bit hidden

3 - Under the section "Custom Records" you will see 4 blank fields (Host name, Type, TTL and Data). They are the ones you need to populate.

4 - From the A record data you got from Shopify - Host Name: copy the name from Shopify and paste it into the field, Type: Select the option A from the dropdown list, TTL leave it as is, Name: copy the numbers from Shopify and paste it into the field.

5- From the CNAME data you got from Shopify - Host Name: copy the name from Shopify and paste it into the field, Type: Select the option CNAME from the dropdown list, TTL leave it as is, Name: copy the numbers from Shopify and paste it into the field.

6 - Save it

PS.: After adding the name "@" onto the host name from the "A" record field, I was not able to save it so I just left it blank and it worked.

After doing this, my domain was connected in 5 minutes! Good luck
