Connecting a Domain

While trying to connect a domain from Squarespace, I got an error message saying that I need to add a valid payment method. I already have two different payment methods connected, my domain is unlocked, and I already entered my domain authorization code. How can this be fixed?20231215_161935.jpg

Welcome to the Shopify Community, and thanks for sharing your question.

 

When adding a payment method on file, could you ensure it meets the following criteria:

 

  • a valid credit card from Mastercard, Visa, or American Express
  • a debit card that is co‑branded with Mastercard, Visa, or American Express

Another reason why you may be seeing this error message is if you do not have your full name correctly listed on file. Could you check this by navigating to your Shopify admin and following the steps below?

 

  • In your Shopify admin, click your profile in the upper right-hand corner.
  • Select Manage account.
  • Under General > Store details, please enter your First name and Last name.

 

Once you have entered this information, click Save.

 

If you continue to see the error message after checking your payment method and store details section, please reach out to our support team via the Shopify Help Center.

Have you tried clicking the "open billing settings" under the error message for "add a valid payment method"?

 

You should be able to select a billing/payment method for domain charges, or else add your credit card card again.
