cost column in finance report

Hello,

I would like to understand what is the value that Shopify takes into consideration when putting "cost" in the Net Sales with cost recorded. 

I would expect is the 'Cost of purchase' of the product that we add in theproduct page- i see it is not the case ? 

Any insight is really appreciated
