Did I get scammed after buying a Nintendo 3DS online?

I am unsure of where else to go to about this, but I recently placed an order for a Nintendo 3DS off of goldenintenfy.myshopify.com. I have an email confirming the order had been placed but after like 2 or so days the site just disappeared. The URL on the site containing my order info is gone too.

I have no way to contact the seller because any contact info that was once there is gone. Surely, one would assume a service that provides a platform to make online stores wouldn't make a fraudulent purchase that easy to get away with, right? Not sure what to do now.

Hi @SallyPuppy12345

It appears you've fallen victim to a scam. The website goldenintenfy.myshopify.com has a low trust score of 25%, indicating it's unreliable. ScamDoc

The disappearance of the site and lack of contact information further suggest fraudulent activity.

Recommended Actions:

  1. Contact Your Payment Provider: Immediately report the transaction to your bank or credit card company to dispute the charge and seek a refund.
  2. Report the Store to Shopify: Inform Shopify about the fraudulent store using their Report an Issue with a Merchant page. This helps them investigate and potentially shut down such stores.
  3. Monitor Your Accounts: Keep a close eye on your financial accounts for any unauthorized transactions.

Preventive Measures for Future Online Purchases:

  • Verify Website Legitimacy: Be cautious of stores using a ".myshopify.com" domain without a custom domain, as this can be a red flag. Money Pixels
  • Check for Contact Information: Legitimate stores typically provide clear contact details, including customer service numbers and physical addresses.
  • Look for Reviews: Search for customer reviews or ratings to assess the store's reputation.
  • Be Wary of Deals That Seem Too Good to Be True: Extremely low prices can indicate counterfeit or non-existent products.

By following these steps, you can address the current situation and protect yourself in future online transactions.

If you have other questions, I will also answer them.
