Feedback for your online store from the community
Hello,
We are just getting started and launched product sales and Amazon on 1/3/21. Would love some feedback on the site.
Our site is: AlluSoda - Natural Zero Sugar Craft Soda with Allulose
On my radar are adding reviews and subscription capability.
I built the site about 6 months prior to launch and focused heavily on SEO which I feel is going great. We dominate searches for many words revolving around Allulose.
Some initial stats:
Month to date (Jan1-Jan15 2024)
Sessions: 2044
Orders: 16 (we got about 100 orders on Amazon FBA)
Revenue $773
Conversion 0.78% (low but zero abandoned carts which is encouraging).
Our margins are low and actually losing a bit on each sale for now. Focus for us is to now get into retail stores and raise our volume to improve margins. I know prices are high and hurting conversion but we are competitive with companies like Olipop, Poppi, Fit Soda, and other natural premium sodas. We also want to position the brand as a premium beverage so don't want to have heavy promo messaging and will rarely discount.
Conversion is also negatively affected by our focus on upper funnel SEO. For instance, some of our top traffic keywords are terms such as "allulose vs sucralose" or recently "allulose glp-1" (allulose induces glp-1 like Wegovy/Ozempic and trending). So those are more research oriented terms. We do well with lower funnel terms like "drinks with allulose" but the volume is very low.
Shipping is very expensive. About $16 per case. Amazon is free shipping but I just can't go that low. So I have a flat $5 shipping on 1 case. But if customers order 2 or more cases, they get free shipping AND modest 5% discount. As a result, Amazon cases per order is 1.1 vs 1.5 for allusoda.com.
Finally, a note on UGC, branding and positioning. We are not going for that young gen z fashion vibe that you see so often with energy drinks or trendy sodas. We are all about being a healthier zero sugar option and started with a personal passion for helping with diabetes. It also resonates with zero sugar diets. So our customers are older and health conscious. Gender neutral.
Open to any and all suggestions. Only hesitation is lowering price to increase conversion.

Hi AlluSoda,

First of all, your site looks wonderful, well-informed, and professionally made. I took a look at your store and have a few suggestions that will help increase your conversion rate:
1. Call to action button. Add some call-to-action buttons under your products on your landing page, as well as on your product page.
2. Connect Social Media. I went ahead and followed you on Instagram! Connecting your feed with your store gives it more social proof. Research shows that 76% of customers buy products seen on social media posts.
3. Connecting online with offline. If you have a showroom / physical store, make sure to always be telling your customers about your online store, adding a quick card with your online store address provides your new customers a chance to purchase again without coming to your physical store. Here's a good case study of our client in the food & beverage industry and how she did it.
4. Ask your customers! (Most effective for increasing conversion) Since you have some converting customers, ask them how they found out about your shop. You can easily do so with a post-purchase survey app, and reward your customers with coupons/points to keep them coming back again. Once you find out your strongest marketing channel, focus more effort and money on that.
I would also suggest doing some product development surveys as well as packaging surveys on what the clients cared about when buying the product.
Hope this helps!
