Feedback on new store appreciated

Hello everyone, I would appreciate feedback from Shopify experts and fellow Shopify store owners alike, regarding how I have designed my new store:  Wilde Portraits & Figurative Art

There are 2 areas in particular I'm concerned about:

  1. I have kept the Home Page quite minimal because I thought, the sooner visitors enter the product galleries the better.  Any thoughts on this?
  2. I have 140+ out of stock products in my Gallery of Past Works - Is this bad for SEO?

Thanks, I look forward to your opinions, good or bad.

Lee Wilde

Hi @LeeWildeArtist

I have noticed some unusual situations after accessing your store, let me share you some ideas while answering your raised questions at the same time, for your reference below:

1. Your homepage is indeed very simple and light for visitors to access and get the main idea immediately. But when I click About us button on homepage, it redirects me to a 404 error page, which is not so good and will affect your user experience very much. Kindly do a fully check on backend and make redirections as many as possible, so that it will be good for your store SEO as well.

2. You have set up the website logo as H1 tag, this is actually not so good for your homepage SEO, as Google prefers real text content with practical meanings, rather than images or pictures. You can change this logo into H2 tag by accessing file "header.liquid" from Shopify admin page and add one additional H1 tag on the theme to make the main title of the homepage as H1 tag, this will be much better for Google to index and learn correctly about the page contents.

3. From what you said in this topic, you have 140+ out of stock products. This is definitely not a good sign, as they will affect your page performance in search results when visitors attempt to get your products on Google. You can consider archiving the out of stock products or add a clear Sell Out sign on the related product pages to let visitors or Google know they are unavailable to proceed, so that your store sales and conversion will not be influenced too much via this way.

Lastly, you can also take measures to check store conditions and performance regularly. I have used one tool on my store to monitor the page status and I would like you to get the page details in a further way, recommend you using this one also. Thank you and may your store have better performance in the future after optimizing.

Hey Lee Wilde,

I hope you are doing well. Thanks for asking your store feedback from the experts. I check your store and there are some key areas where you should improve it as listed below.

  • Product Page is not optimized. It should be optimize with UPS, Payment icons, Trusted Badges and social proof.
  • Make sure you should use the product reviews this will increase the ratio so that customer buy the products.
  • Making a home page minimalist is not a good idea. Making homepage comprehensive with all necessary information is crucial.
  • Use the links in the footer so that customer a easily navigate to any page.

I hope these tips helps.

Thank you very much for your assistance, Nicola. When you visited I was in the process of moving things around, hence the 404 error. I  was  trying to meld the shop with my Wordpress blog: https://leewilde.com.au  but I can't seem to do it in a way that makes sense, so I will separate them again now.

Thank you for the advice regarding H1 in the header, I will fix that today.

Kind regards
Lee Wilde

You are very welcome here @LeeWildeArtist

I feel so happy my advice shared here can give you some positive results on the store. Honestly, it is indeed not so practical to meld two kinds of shops together, as they are using different templates and designs, better optimize them separately.

And if you still have some additional issues while fixing H1 in the header, I'm happy to check the code contents, and you can share related codes here for my reference.

Have a lovely day, meanwhile!
