Feedback our Home Fragrance Website

Hello All

We had our website few a year or so on the Dawn theme, but did not have time to work on it, all sales were coming via Etsy, but we decided to update the theme (Empire) and improve the SEO for our store to try and get sales via our own website.

So after a few months we have just finished adding most of our products and designed the website for our needs.

We sell reed diffusers and refills in the UK, and would love to have some feedback on how we could maybe improve our website.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi @NewDawnUK

Your store looks great, spot on 🙂 A lot of things are done right and you can see a lot of work was put into it. Good job. Great images, enough content, and payment options.

Just a few things to improve. On the search bar, under All categories, some collections are in lowercase. On the product page, I would consider changing a thing or two. Think tabs take too much space so on smaller screens you push Add to Cart of the screen. Also, Add to Cart is not dominant on the page. I mean, most people will see it, but some may just click on Shop Pay instead and leave the page. Would switch text and background color there. Also, I would like to see one or two more sections on the product page. And while images are great I am not sure what actually comes in the box.

To repeat, your store does look great, and in the future, I think you can consider adding some advanced features like packs, bundles, and gift boxes. Even a subscription may work.

Anyway, wish you all the best and good luck with sales.

Kind regards
Laza

Hello,

I'm Garcia from PageFly, a Shopify Advanced Page Builder App. Leveraging my experience in Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO), I’d like to share some strategic suggestions to help increase your conversion rate.

1. Update Featured Products Section

Revamp the featured products section by highlighting best-sellers or trending items to capture customer attention and drive conversions. Here are some elements you can consider to add in the section:
- Include the product name and price prominently for easy visibility.

- Show average ratings and a snippet of customer reviews to build credibility.

- A visible "Add to Cart" button for quick purchases encourages immediate action.

- Highlight any ongoing promotions with eye-catching badges (e.g., “20% Off” or “Limited Time”).

2. Highlight Brand Features

Provide detailed information about the ingredients in your fragrances to build trust and encourage brand loyalty among consumers, for example:

  • Made with natural essential oils
  • Elegant design that complements any decor
  • Eco-friendly packaging...

3. Utilize Visual Content

Add a compelling video on the homepage to enhance engagement and help customers visualize the product's benefits, leading to higher conversion rates. Include lifestyle images of the reed diffusers placed in various settings, such as a cozy living room, a serene bedroom, or a stylish office space. This helps customers envision how the diffuser fits into their own home decor.

Create a short video showing how to set up and use the reed diffuser. Highlight the ease of use and the instant ambiance it brings to any space. Consider including customer testimonials within the video to add authenticity.

4. Incorporate Elements to Create a Sense of Urgency

Implement countdown timers for sales promotions and offer personalized gift options to motivate customers to make quick decisions, especially during peak shopping seasons.

I believe these enhancements can significantly improve your site’s performance and conversion rate. If you have any questions or would like further insights, feel free to reach out!

Best regards,
Garcia

Hi @NewDawnUK,

I’m from Mageplaza, a Shopify solution expert.

I would be glad to review your website and provide feedback on improving its performance. Below are some suggestions to enhance website performance:

1. Adding promotional banner

You should add seasonal banners for current promotions or collections (e.g., Summer Sale, Winter Collection) to catch the attention of customers. Additionally, you should add ATC, Shop now or add to the wish list buttons to encourage customers to buy your products.

2. Adding  reviews

When a product has no review, this often causes big hesitation to purchase for buyers. If you already sell your products on Etsy, you can consider importing those reviews into your current Shopify website. In the long term, you may want to have a reward program for buyers who leave reviews on your website as well.

3. Enhance SEO

Optimizing your web pages can significantly increase organic traffic, bringing more potential customers to your store. SEO is a powerful strategy for driving traffic to your Shopify website.
For a small e-commerce store, aiming for at least 1,000 visitors per month can help establish a stable sales flow.

Key elements to review include:

  • Unique and descriptive title tags and meta descriptions for each page.
  • Incorporating relevant keywords without overstuffing.
For more tips on SEO, refer to Shopify’s SEO checklist to boost your online visibility and increase site traffic.

I hope my suggestions are helpful, feel free to give me any feedback.

Good luck!

Hi @NewDawnUK
I'm Tracy from BON Loyalty, the top-rated Shopify loyalty app.

I would like to compliment your website: everthing is modern and user-friendly. Overall, I think it looks great and provides a pleasant shopping experience. So, I don’t believe the issue lies with your conversion rate but rather with driving traffic to your Shopify store.

My advice would be to focus on your SEO. You need a serious, well-thought-out SEO strategy, not just a few blog posts to engage your existing audience.

I did some basic SEO research on your niche and your site in the UK, and it seems it’s not too competitive (Look at the low KD in the attached image, which mean keyword difficulties), which presents a great opportunity for you to rank higher in search results.

BON_Loyalty_0-1727169499119.png

While I can’t provide a full step-by-step guide here, my general recommendation is to focus on semantic SEO and eCommerce SEO, especially transactional keywords. These are the keywords that drive actual sales. You’re already ranking in the top 10 for some keywords, but with better SEO, reaching the top 5 could significantly increase your traffic.

A few other thoughts on boosting your conversion rate:

  • Improve your product images. Customers want to see what the packaging looks like, especially for items like refills. I noticed some of your refill products only show images of the scent ingredients, but people also want to see how the product arrives, such as the bottle or packaging.
  • Prepare for the holiday season. You should plan promotions for BFCM (Black Friday Cyber Monday) and the holidays. Consider offering gift sets or product bundles. For example, check out this store to see what I mean by holiday gift sets.

That’s all for now—good luck with your sales!

Hi @NewDawnUK

I took a good look at your website and your situation—switching from Etsy to focusing on your own store with the Empire theme is a great move, especially for long-term brand growth. Your product range (reed diffusers and refills) is a solid niche, and it's clear you've put effort into the design and setup. Now, let’s go straight into areas that could help you improve your website for better conversions and SEO.

1. Homepage & First Impressions

  • Your homepage looks clean, but it feels a bit text-heavy. Try breaking up the text with icons or images to make key points more digestible.
  • The hero banner could be stronger—maybe a lifestyle image with a direct CTA (e.g., “Shop Now” or “Find Your Signature Scent”).
  • Add trust signals at the top (e.g., "Free UK Delivery on Orders Over £X", "Eco-Friendly & Handmade in the UK").

2. Navigation & User Experience

  • Your main menu is clear, but I’d recommend adding a “Best Sellers” or “Shop by Scent” section to help new visitors find products quickly.
  • The product categories could be visually highlighted more on the homepage.
  • The cart icon in the top right blends in too much—making it more noticeable could improve conversions.

3. Product Pages

  • Descriptions are good but could be more engaging. Right now, they are informative, but they lack storytelling. People buy scents for emotional reasons—try weaving in descriptions that paint a picture of the experience.
  • No scent guide or scent quiz? Since you sell diffusers, helping customers pick a scent based on preferences or moods could be a game-changer.
  • Reviews Section: I noticed product pages lack visible reviews. If you have customers from Etsy, consider importing those reviews here for credibility.

4. SEO & Content

  • You mentioned working on SEO, which is great. But some pages still have generic title tags and meta descriptions (e.g., "Luxury Diffuser Refill – New Dawn UK"). Make sure each page has keyword-rich, click-worthy metadata.
  • Consider starting a blog on topics like “How to Make Your Home Smell Amazing All Day” or “Best Scents for Relaxation” to attract organic traffic.

5. Mobile Responsiveness

  • On mobile, the menu is a bit cluttered, and the banner text is harder to read. Ensure all buttons and CTAs are big enough for easy tapping.
  • The checkout button is a bit hidden—try making it more prominent to reduce drop-offs.

6. Conversion Boosters

  • A subscription box for discounts or scent recommendations could help build email lists.
  • Consider bundles (e.g., "Starter Kit" with a diffuser and refill) to increase average order value.
  • Live chat could also help hesitant buyers make decisions faster.

Overall, you have a strong foundation, and a few tweaks could really push your store to perform better. If you need any other assistance, feel free to ask, and I will try my best to support you.

Best regards,
Daisy.
