Feedback Welcome - Coffee & Treats Store (New Launch)

Hi everyone,

I recently launched my Shopify store, McTunney’s around 2 weeks ago, where I sell small-batch roasted coffee along with handmade fudge and sweet treats. I’ve put a lot of work into getting the basics in place, but as traffic and conversions are still on the low side, I’d really appreciate some honest feedback from the community.

I’d love thoughts on:

  • How well the store communicates the brand/message
  • Anything that could improve trust or buyer confidence

  • Any marketing or SEO tips for early-stage growth

I’m still learning as I go, so any constructive input would mean a lot.

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
Awais

Hi @awaismuzaffar! Thanks for reaching out to the community. It's Tracy from BON Loyalty, the essential loyalty app for Shopify businesses.

Congratulations on lauching your business. Your website is very clean and well-organised, and I had a good impression when browsing your online store. For the 3 aspects you were asking for feedbacks, here are some of my sugesstions for improvement:

1. Visual Hierarchy & Clarity
Current Situation:
The homepage is clean and image-led, with high-quality photography that highlights the artisanal nature of the products. The soft color palette feels premium and aligns with the fudge/sweet theme.

Room to Improve:
The visual hierarchy is slightly flat—there’s little contrast between sections, and call-to-action (CTA) buttons blend into the background. Product titles and prices on the collection page are small and lack emphasis.

Suggestion for Improvement:

- Use clearer section breaks and stronger contrast (e.g., background colors or subtle dividers) to guide the eye through the page.
- Make CTAs like “Shop Fudge” and “Browse Shop” more prominent using bolder colors or outlines.
- Increase font size and weight for product names and prices to improve readability and encourage clicks.

2. Brand Communication
Current Situation:
McTunney’s presents itself as the “Home of handcrafted fudge, and magical sweet bundles – straight to your door.” The homepage emphasizes British nostalgia with offerings like traditional fudge, bonbons, and specialty coffee blends.

Room to Improve:
The brand's unique selling proposition (USP) could be more prominently featured. While the products are showcased, the narrative around what sets McTunney’s apart—such as the artisanal process, sourcing of ingredients, or the story behind the brand—is limited.

Suggestion for Improvement:
- Develop a dedicated “Our Story” page detailing the brand's origins, values, and craftsmanship.
- Highlight the artisanal nature of the products and any unique production methods.
- Incorporate storytelling elements throughout the site to build a stronger emotional connection with visitors.

3. Trust & Buyer Confidence
Current Situation:
The website is clean and user-friendly, with clear product listings and pricing. It offers multiple payment options, including major credit cards and digital wallets, which can enhance buyer confidence.

Room to Improve:
There is a lack of visible customer reviews or testimonials on product pages, which are crucial for building trust. Additionally, information about shipping, returns, and customer service is not prominently displayed.

Suggestion for Improvement:
- Implement a review system on product pages to showcase customer feedback.
- Create easily accessible pages detailing shipping policies, return procedures, and customer support contact information.
- Display trust badges or certifications (e.g., secure checkout, money-back guarantee) to reassure customers.

4. Marketing & SEO for Early-Stage Growth
Current Situation:
The site is built on Shopify, which offers a solid foundation for e-commerce. However, there is limited content beyond product listings, and the site lacks a blog or resource section.

Room to Improve:
Without additional content, the site misses opportunities to rank for long-tail keywords and engage visitors beyond immediate purchases.

Suggestion for Improvement:
- Start a blog featuring topics like “The History of British Fudge” or “How to Pair Coffee with Sweets” to attract organic traffic.
- Optimize product pages with unique meta descriptions and alt text for images to improve SEO.
- Leverage social media platforms by sharing behind-the-scenes content, customer stories, and promotions to build a community around the brand.

Love the concept of McTunney’s small-batch coffee and handmade treats sound delicious. I’d recommend focusing on building buyer trust early: add product reviews, trust badges, and strong About/Shipping/Return policies.

Hi @awaismuzaffar

Congrats on the launch!!

First, the design of your site is great!! The color scheme fits your products well.

One tip I have for you is to start a subscription. People pay $7 monthly to get Signature Dark Roast delivered to them every month.

Another thing you can do is use the app, X Away From Free Shipping

The way the app works is that you set your Free Shipping price to $20. When people buy Signature Dark Roast and go to checkout they will see a progress bar on the checkout page. The progress bar will show them they need to spend $10 more to "earn" free shipping. They might be encouraged to go back and buy more fudge or a second Dark Roast.

Hi @awaismuzaffar

Thanks for reaching out to the Shopify Community! I'm Donna from MooseDesk , your go-to Live Chat, WhatsApp and FAQ App here to enhance your customer support experience .

I love your store! I can tell you have put a lot of effort into building this. Here are some of my recommendations for better customer experience, please kindly check 😍

  1. Brand & Messaging

Ask yourself: Can a first-time visitor tell what McTunney’s stands for in 10 seconds?

What to look for/improve:

  • Clear USP: What makes your coffee and fudge different from others? Is it a unique roasting method, family recipe, ethically sourced ingredients, local vibe?

  • Storytelling: People don’t just buy coffee—they buy a moment, a feeling. Consider a strong "Our Story" page or even a short founder video to build connection. You can add an “About us” page including images of the team, behind-the-scenes moments, or customer testimonials can also create a stronger connection.

2. Trust & Buyer Confidence

First-time buyers need small nudges to feel safe and confident.

Trust-building ideas:

  • Social proof: Add customer reviews (even 2–3 solid ones help). Ask friends/family/customers for quick testimonials.

  • Product photos: Use high-quality, consistent photos that show textures (especially for fudge). Include lifestyle shots too (e.g., someone enjoying coffee in a cozy setting).

  • Policy pages: Have clear links to Shipping, Returns, and Privacy. These are low-key trust signals.

  • Badges: If you use secure checkout, include those visual trust badges. Same with any sustainability/handmade claims — don’t just say it, show it with small visual cues.

3. Marketing & SEO Tips

Foundational SEO:

  • Do a quick audit: Are you using relevant keywords on product titles, meta descriptions, alt text for images, and headers?

  • Blog posts can help drive traffic ( “How to Brew the Perfect Cup of Small-Batch Coffee” or “5 Unique Gift Ideas for Fudge Lovers”).

  • Use descriptive product names (e.g., “Vanilla Bean Artisan Fudge | McTunney’s Handmade Treats”) — this helps search engines and customers.

    4. Add FAQ page on your chat widget

Some customers hesitate to start a chat or are just looking for quick answers. Including a mini FAQ within your chat widget (e.g., “How long does shipping take?”, “Can I choose my fudge flavors?”, “Is the coffee suitable for espresso machines?”) builds trust and helps users feel informed without needing to ask. It also reduces repetitive support questions for you.

To address this, I recommend using MooseDesk, an app for creating unique FAQ pages for your customers and especially, it can be added on your chat widget.

Your store has excellent visual branding and product photography that really captures the artisanal, handcrafted feel. The warm color scheme and professional imagery create strong brand appeal for premium coffee and treats.

Current Strengths

Beautiful product photography, cohesive brand aesthetic, clear value proposition ("handcrafted fudge and magical sweet bundles"), and good product descriptions. The coffee roast selection interface is particularly well done.

Key Areas for Enhancement

Homepage Lacks Content Depth: Your homepage feels quite short and minimal. For building trust and authority in artisanal food/coffee, you need more content sections showcasing your story, process, quality standards, and customer social proof.

Product Organization Issues: Related coffee products (different roasts, weights) should be grouped together rather than listed separately. This creates a cleaner, more professional browsing experience.

Limited Trust Building: Missing key trust elements like detailed "About Us" story, coffee sourcing information, production process details, and prominent customer testimonials that artisanal food buyers expect.

Blog Content Needs Development: While you have a blog, the content needs to be more comprehensive and SEO-optimized to drive organic traffic for coffee and artisanal treats.

Strategic Solutions

Enhanced Product Presentation

G: Combined Listings & Variant would group related coffee products by blend/roast with weight/grind options, creating a more professional catalog structure.

Comprehensive Homepage Sections

Tapita: AI Theme Section Store could add essential sections like "Our Story," "Coffee Sourcing," "Handcrafted Process," and enhanced testimonials - completely free.

Content Marketing & SEO

Tapita AI SEO Blog Builder would help create comprehensive coffee guides, brewing tips, and artisanal treat content that drives organic traffic.

Quick Marketing Wins

  • Share behind-the-scenes content on social media
  • Partner with local cafés for wholesale opportunities
  • Create coffee subscription options
  • Add detailed origin stories for each coffee blend

Your foundation is solid - these improvements would build the trust and authority needed for artisanal food success.
