Four Months and Very Low Sales

Four Months and Very Low Sales

Hello,

I'm looking for some direction or advice on why our store is experiencing little to no sales. We started an apparel company in mid November (4 months ago as of today) with designs based on urban legends, folklore, and myths from around the world. I feel like we have a good product and niche, but it's been frustrating due to the lack of sales since we started. Our store website is: https://urbanmythapparel.com/

We use our Instagram (@shopurbanmythapparel) as our main means of promoting our brand. Our account seems to be doing well, as we're consisting gaining followers since we launched. We've also started reaching out to influencers in the paranormal / horror collecting space. We send then free shirts in return for promoting our brand on their platforms. The response and feedback has been very positive so far, but this initiative has still resulted in no sales.

I'm looking for any advice at this point since I'm at a loss. I'm not sure if our website needs to be redesigned, or if we have too many sections and should just populate the homepage with product and nothing else.

I would really appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.

Best,

Brad

Hey @UrbanMyth I hope you are doing well. Welcome to Shopify Community. I check your Website and found everything amazing but the thing where I can say you need to improvement is Product Page. I found that your Product Page is not optimized. It mean there is not detailed information about the product. You can find a detailed product from here.

Here you will see how product page is organized. And I prefer you to use premium theme so that it gave customer a premium look of your store. And also with the speed optimization your store is good. And just need to optimize the product page and I can suggest to add Bundle Buy feature so that customer buy your other products too.

These are the advices from my Side. And after implementing this you will get sale.

If you need help to implement this you can reach me out.

Hi @TheScriptFlow and thanks for the welcome. Thanks for taking the time to review our website and offer up some suggestions. I really like the suggestion of the Bundle Buy feature. Is that something that I can add through the Shopify App Store?

Hello @UrbanMyth!  I'm Tracy from BON Loyalty, the essential Shopify loyalty program app.

When looking at your product images, I was really impressed with your concept. Everything is conveyed clearly and consistently across both your products and social media pages. I'm sorry that your marketing efforts haven’t yet translated into the sales you were hoping for. Here are a few suggestions to help improve the current situation:
1/ Express the concept through store design
- On your current homepage, the background design still looks quite basic and template-like. You should start experimenting with background images, colors, and fonts to better convey your brand’s horror and myth-inspired concept. If your primary color scheme is black and white, consider adopting a slightly darker design style to fully capture the horror theme.
- Here’s an example of a brand that I find impressive in terms of concept and design: https://www.fright-rags.com/

2/ Diversify marketing channels
- Since your business is still relatively new (<1 year), promoting your brand name to potential customers is essential. Your current approach is good, but it’s not yet enough to convert the followers of influencers into actual buyers. While an influencer’s video might have impressive reach/views, the audience watching it may not necessarily be your ideal customers.
- To improve conversion rates, consider expanding your marketing efforts to other channels such as email marketing, Instagram ads, and short TikTok videos.
- You might also consider sponsoring small events (if your budget allows). Event sponsorship can help increase brand awareness and attract more potential customers.

3/ Display testimonials and reviews
- As you mentioned, the feedback on your products is quite positive. However, I couldn’t find any reviews or testimonials from people who have interacted with your products. This lack of social proof may make your business seem less credible, which could discourage potential buyers from making a purchase.
- You can encourage customers to leave reviews by offering discount codes (e.g., 10-15% off their next order) as an incentive.

I hope these suggestions help! Let me know if you’d like further insights. 😊

Cheers,

Tracy

Hi @UrbanMyth,

I am from Mageplaza - Shopify solution expert.

I would be happy to review your website and provide feedback on the performance. Here are some suggestions to improve the performance of your website and increase sales:

1. Improve promotional banner and section on Homepage

You should add seasonal banners for current promotions to catch the attention of customers.

Additionally, featuring sections like “special offer” on the homepage, make discount labels and pricing information more noticeable, can drive attention to popular and discounted products, encouraging visitors to engage more with your site. Here is a reference:

2. Adding review section

Adding a dedicated review section would allow customers to share their experiences, providing valuable feedback for other potential buyers. Customer reviews not only build trust but also serve as social proof, which can significantly boost conversions. Here is a reference:

Hey @UrbanMyth, I think it might be a good idea to take a step back and analyze what people are doing when they get to your website.
Take a look at your analytics and use tools like Hot Jar or Microsoft Clarity. Doing this should give you a better idea of what people are doing once they reach your website.

Once you've got some data on what people are doing when they get to your website, you can make some decisions about what to do next.

Hi UrbanMyth,

Having an amazing niche is awesome, but low sales can be a challenge. Here is some quick advice for your website.

Website: Simplify homepage and build out maybe 2 or 3 products to feature, and make sure you have a few trust badges. Also make sure your site is mobile friendly.

Instagram: Post more reels and have a clear call to action for your followers (ex: "Shop now!"). Also try some smaller niche hash tags (#UrbanLegends #UrbanMyth in this example).

Influencers: Work with micro-influencers and give them discount sale codes to track sales.

Ads: Try some small Instagram or tiktok ads, and target users who are horror/paranormal fans.

Promotions: Try running a discount in a limited time offer or maybe free shipping on orders over $50.

Check out your shopify analytics and make sure you are getting people visiting your site and if people are abandoning their cart. Keep engaging your audience, and keep putting out content around the myths!

Best Wishes
