Feedback for your online store from the community
Hello Everyone, my name is Yan Ivanov, I am a college student and opened up shirtsgonecrazy.com to sell fun and comfortable shirts, I am trying to find my niche within screen-printing, but I feel like I my store can appeal to a large variety of people. I know it's important to narrow it down so I am trying to figure out which direction to go in, and I was wondering if I could get some feedback on my shop, I am trying to learn more about my customers and improve their shopping experience. I think I have a good start but there is a lot more work to do including adding more products. I am doing some facebook ads, but am wondering what's the best way to generate costumer visits? Have any of you had experience with Google ads? I am also posting at-least once a day on Social Media and know that this will take time but am curious about and advice you guys have for a new shop owner? Thank you so much!

Hi, @yanivanov.
Thanks for your message, I would be happy to provide you with some feedback for your shop. I really enjoyed taking a look through your shop, you have a lovely homepage design and some really awesome-looking products available. One thing I would suggest is both expanding on your "About us" information as well as adding it to the main menu of your shop:
Not every customer will scroll homepage material and will simply want to get quick information about a store and want to start browsing their offerings as soon as possible. So it may provide quicker access for customers to learn more about you and your brand and why they should choose you over similar stores they may find. I do love the sense of humour and individuality your current about section has, so I just recommend expanding on it further to build that customer trust and retention with your brand. If you are curious for more information on writing an effective about us page, you may want to take a look at our guide here.
You might also want to add an announcement bar/banner to the header of your shop. Depending on what theme you are using, you may have this ability built into your theme directly. Adding a banner is a great way to share important information with your customers, you could add a banner to highlight the following information:
We have a guide on adding an announcement bar, that I recommend checking out. If you are using a third-party theme and do not have this option built-in, you could also look into a third-party app that will do the same thing, we are some free examples:
- Bannerfly
- All Announcement Bars and Banner
There also seems to be no policies added to your store anywhere, you can add or generate the following policies for your Shopify store:
We also have a helpful guide here, that will walk you through how to add or generate policies for your store. Adding store policies not only provides your customers with crucial information about your shop and their orders. But it can also keep you and your business safe should there come to any issues with orders purchased through your shop.
You also mentioned you were looking for more ways to bring in some customers, while ads are certainly an effective way, I would be happy to offer you some additional resources for your to check out that may help. I love sharing this fantastic article that talks about Increasing website traffic, it touches on things you should be asking yourself about your shop, such as:
Then goes on to break down a list of ways you can start bringing more traffic into your shop as well as what options may be the best route for you to take specifically. It's a great article packed with tons of great resources to both analyze your shops' current state as well as what you can do to improve it.
Overall you have a really great shop here, with a strong homepage. I would focus on expanding on your about us page, adding more products as you suggested as well as working to build your traffic. I hope this information helps you out moving forward, please feel free to reach back out here with any questions you may have!

Hi @Marty thank you so much for your insightful answer, I really appreciate all the information. I will definitely take your advice to heart and expand on the "about" page, it's really important to me to have a strong story that people can relate to and feel comfortable buying from my shop. I think a strong pillar of my store is having this fun and playful style that people can laugh at while they shop, and merging that with a strong story and pitch is something I am still working on. Thank you for linking the guide, I am still learning how to write an effective "about" page so it is very helpful, also I appreciate the note about the of the policies, I want to create a cost effective return policy that keeps costumers happy.
This is something that I am definitely struggling with, I think I have a clear style and vision but I am still developing a pitch which I can tell my customers and have it motivate their purchases, can you recommend any sources of inspiration for writing a pitch that really sticks with customers? I would love to read this article you reference.
Thanks again,
Yan

Hi @yanivanov,
This is PageFly - Free Landing Page Builder. I would love to provide my advice for your store based on 6 years of providing solutions for about 100.000+ active Shopify merchants.
I have just taken a quick look at your website and I picked up some plus points are:
Besides these things, I have some comments and suggestions for you:
1. Have an announcement bar
Basically, the announcement bar will announce the information about shipping and discount or any promotion campaign of a store.
2. Have a sticky menu
A sticky navigation bar will help customers navigate themselves from every part of the homepage to any page of your store more conveniently. Just a friendly reminder to you!
3. Featured image
It is of great importance that the featured image should describe what you are selling within the 5 first minutes of accessing your store.
As you can see in the screenshot above, there is no featured image under the header. Thus, please kindly add a banner here so the customers might not drop out, which might help you avoid a high bounce rate.
4. CTA buttons
As you might know, a primary call to action button is one of the important things for a home page of an online store. With this button, you will redirect customers to the page you want them to take action mostly. It can redirect to a collection page, or a product page, probably enhancing the conversion rates.
So, please kindly add one here. It could be “View all products” or “Explore more”, all up to you. Please rest assured that all CTA buttons will have the same styling to boost the conversion rate.
Another suggestion of mine for this section is that the product image should be linked to the product page. In this way, if the customers fall in love with one of the products, they can jump into the product page for more information and jump into the cart page by clicking the “Add to cart button”. Isn’t this great, buddy?
5. Give clear information.
I think the customers might be confused and the content here can be easily overlooked as it is not the thing they are looking for. What you should do is to move the content to another section and put the product name, price, description, variant (if available),... instead.
Regarding the content on the right side, you can move it a little bit down to make it an “About us” section to tell your brand story. Obviously, a business can stand out with its brand story. A brand story helps customers understand more about your business and also helps your store look more attractive.
6. Add the price for this collection
Just a minor thing but I hope it is helpful. That is - You should place the price for the products to make it more convenient for the customers.
If possible, please add a hover image for the product as well. By presenting secondary hover images, customers can easily scan many products to see extra visual information and I bet you would have more clicks than now!
Another necessary thing here is that you should use the same styling for the CTA buttons. I believe that thanks to it, the conversion rate will be increased.
Last but not least, here are my other recommendations for you, feel free to consider them applied to your store:
=> What helps you to build your store more easily, especially what helps you to build all options I comment on above is a page builder.
It would be a good choice for you to have professional sites that look incredible on mobile & desktop without any extra coding, and you will have lots more time focusing on marketing strategies, so you can consider checking PageFly.
If you feel my answer is helpful, please give it a LIKE or mark it as a SOLUTION. Let me know if you have any questions.

Add About us, blog pages on the header section.
Display testimonials or reviews on the homepage.
Include Blog page, Blog posting will allow you to show your followers a personal side of your business. In this way you can engage with Existing and New customers.
Add Terms, shipping and return/refund policies on the footer section.
Promote your products on social plat forms and provide those social links on the footer section.
Make social links open on new tab.
Update contact us page with more details, which builds trust on your store.
You can promote your products with word of mouth strategy. Boost your sales with the app from the shopify app store which helps to increase your sales.
There is no terms and conditions checkbox at checkout. I suggest you to install an app from shopify app store which provides 'I agree to the Terms and Conditions' before checkout .As it makes easy for the customer to read your terms and policies.

Hello @yanivanov
Hope you are doing well.
I understand how it can be frustrating to be doing everything right but still not getting your traffic converted to sales. You may find comfort in knowing that you're not the only one on that boat. Millions of Shopify store owners are facing the same problem. This is not because you are necessarily doing something wrong, but rather because Sales is an organic process, involving people getting to know you, visiting your brand, looking at your products, comparing them with others, and finally making the decision to purchase from you. So this takes some time, during which you have to hold on tight. But, you can't be just passively waiting for sales to grow, so I would recommend you look at these tips and see which ones you can use: You have great faith in your online shop, but why aren’t visitors converting?
Another Thing you could consider: Not all traffic is good traffic.
Traffic will only have any chance of converting to sales if they are being generated by the right consumer. If your product is for females under the age of 30, but your ads are being viewed by males over 50, that is a lot of traffic, but it will never convert to sales. So, before you spend on targeting, a good idea is to have a simple Google Trends search, that will tell you who is looking for the products you search, what is their age, gender and location. Then you can put forward some really targeted ads that are bound to generate clicks.
Here are some areas where you could consider working on
A good idea is to have your newsletter as a popup so that it shows up when the customer enters the home page. This will make it more visible and attract more people to your newsletter from where you can target more interested people.
Add a sticky header. The headings are important to navigate the site. If the headers keep disappearing, it makes it hard to find what the customer is looking for. That is why if you make your headers sticky, the user can see them even if they have scrolled down, which makes the site more user friendly.
You can also consider making your headings a bit bigger or bolder, so that they catch the eye more easily.
People tend to buy more from people they can easily relate to. If you share your journey, your goals, and your aspirations with your customers, it will be easier for people to connect with you. If you can create an emotional connection with your visitors, people are sure to buy products from you.
It is a good idea to place a banner on the homepage that tells your customers exactly what they are looking for. You may add a separate banner for each of your product types
Your banner looks very good and matches your theme and product. Consider, however, adding a Shop Now button to your banner, which will take you directly to the relevant product page.
It is a good idea to have multiple slides on your banner (each should stay for around 5seconds) for each product type and have the CTA buttons for each slide redirect the customer to a different product page.
Use a star rating widget to let website visitors evaluate your business. They create standardization, allowing customers to compare different products easily. It also helps you get feedback about your products.
Customers read user reviews more than they read product descriptions. If they find that 50 other people have liked your product and have purchased from you, it helps your credibility and they feel safer buying from you. So try to add some reviews of your products and services to your homepage.
Hope this helps you. If you find it useful, leave a like to let me know! Happy Selling! Thank you and the Very Best of Luck to you!
