High Traffic but not converting into actual sales

Hello all,

We have launched our website - www.simpleootd.com to promote our print-on-demand clothing business, and so far we have spent about $1,000 on Google Ads and Instagram for last 3 months, gaining some tractions (1,200 users visiting with thousands of sessions...), but still made no sales yet..

It's quite frustrating, and I would love to have your feedbacks and guidance on what you could further point out on my online business.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Sam

One thing you can do is to improve how customers see your products.

Instead of showing individual products, show one image that has links to each available product. You can do this with an app like Shoppable Image Hotspots

The app allows you to select parts of an image that can link to the product pages. This will increase your CTR by reducing the number of clicks it takes a customer to complete a sale, which should increase your sales

Hi Sam

Welcome to the community. I understand how frustrating it can be to spend money on ads but receive no returns. It is common problem and there are a lot of topics here, so try also to search for "No sales" and you will find a bunch of good advice. Some repeat all the time and some are unique from store to store.

I think your store is not ready for customers yet, and that there are some more work needed before spending more on ads.

  • The first thing I noticed is the  lack of content/text, there is nothing on the homepage, collection, and product page. Just image and some options are not enough. For example, on the product page, you need some description, materials, and customer reassurance blocks. Check similar stores.
  • Next, it is that free theme, I do not think it suits your site, menu is hidden when there is enough room in the header. Extra click plus you hiding collection from customers for easy access. You should think about investing in some paid theme from the Shopify store or Themeforest. They are better, have more features, better fonts and in general made for conversion.
  • There are no business details, address, or phone, I would not buy from a store that does not have those

You have some work but I wish you luck and hope sales will come.

Kind regards
Laza

Hello there @w23choi_parema   Here are a few suggestions I have on how you could improve your store to gain a better conversion rate.

1) You should set out categories for best sellers and latest shipments on your homepage.

2) I like the fact you have well written customer reviews well presented on the homepage, I’d recommend you add some images and maybe the ages or professions of the people alongside the comments so it feels more real to potential customers scanning through your store.

3) At the bottom of the homepage, it’s always a good idea to add the links to accepted methods of payment as well as the social media accounts of the business.

I wish you and your store the best of luck!

Emmanuel

Hi @w23choi_parema,

This is Kate from PageFly - Shopify Advanced Page Builder app.

I'm genuinely impressed with your website. It has a stylish flair while remaining clean, clear, and professional. Based on my expertise in CRO, I’d love to offer some suggestions to improve the conversion rate and sales for your store.

Add a CTA Button for the hero banner

You should include a CTA button on your hero banner. A hero banner with a Call-to-Action (CTA) button is essential for store homepages as it immediately grabs visitors' attention, clearly communicates key brand messages or offers, and directs them toward desired actions like shopping or signing up. Example: Explore More, Buy Now

Use color Swatches for the product page

PageFlyKate_1-1732873250890.png

For products available in multiple colors, it's essential to use color swatches on your product page. Make sure to assign a unique image to each color variation for better visual display.

Color swatches offer a more intuitive and engaging shopping experience, allowing customers to easily view and select their preferred color option, which can significantly improve decision-making and overall user satisfaction.

Integrate with your social media platform

Enhancing your store's visual appeal and boosting sales potential can be achieved by integrating shoppable Instagram feeds on your website.

=> Tools like VIBE and Instafeed enable you to display attractive Instagram content directly on your site, including posts, photos, and reels. These platforms offer the functionality to tag products within your visuals, allowing customers to conveniently shop directly from your Instagram feed.

Checkout Process

  • Streamlined Checkout: Ensure the checkout process is smooth, with as few steps as possible. Offering guest checkout and multiple payment options can reduce friction.
  • Cart Abandonment: Implement reminders for users who abandon their carts, using email or SMS campaigns.

I hope you find these suggestions helpful in optimizing your website's conversion rate and sales. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out. I wish you the best of luck with your online venture.

Kate | PageFly Team

Hi @W23choi_parema,

Thanks for reaching out to the community. We are MooseDesk, a comprehensive Live Chat, FAQ & Helpdesk App designed to elevate your customer support experience.

Congrats on your new store! I just wanted to give a few more comments to make your website look even better. Please kindly check

1. Add a second image on hover

Having a second image on hover allows customers to see the product from different angles. This will also keep them on the page longer, which can reducing bounce rates.

Example:

show-second-image-on-hover.gif

2. Add product description

Comprehensive and accurate product information establishes trust between the customer and the seller. Customers are more likely to buy from businesses they trust. I highly recommend adding more information on product’s materials as well as size instruction

3. Optimize the footer section

The footer is often overlooked, but it's a valuable piece that can significantly enhance user experience and boost your website's effectiveness. Therefore, you can gradually improve your sales.

Some of the elements you can consider adding are:

  • Copyright notice: Clearly state the copyright owner and year.
  • Privacy policy link: Link to your detailed privacy policy.
  • Terms of service link: Link to your terms and conditions.
  • Contact information: Include your address, phone number, and email.
  • Social media icons: Link to your social media profiles.

4. Add a live chat widget

Not only does a live chat widget offer immediate assistance to customers, it also provides personalized product recommendations to them. Plus, chatting with agents can create a sense of trust for your customers, which can encourage them to buy your products.

I suggest exploring MooseDesk, a free Live Chat, FAQ & Helpdesk App. MooseDesk provides auto-reply features during non-business hours, a proactive help center, and a user-friendly widget layout, offering an effective solution to enhance customer support on your platform.

Hi, I’m Wayne from Akohub. We've been working with many Shopify brands, from big to small, including Nike, Logitech and LINE Friends Taiwan. We hope our expertise will be helpful! I took a look at your site, and here are some suggestions that might help to increase your conversion rate.

To enhance your website and boost sales for your business, you can consider implementing several key upgrades such as retargeting strategies and loyalty program.

For instance, you could offer points for every purchase that can be redeemed for discounts on future orders or exclusive access to limited-edition designs. Offering these additional benefits to customers will not only foster a sense of community among your customers but also create a feeling of belonging and exclusivity, which can strengthen brand loyalty and encourage word-of-mouth referrals.

On the other hand, retargeting strategies are crucial for re-engaging visitors who have shown interest in your products but haven't made a purchase yet. You can display personalized ads to these potential customers across various platforms, reminding them of the items they viewed or added to their cart. This keeps your brand top-of-mind and increases the chances of conversion as customers are more likely to return when reminded of products they liked.

To launch retargeting campaigns and loyalty program, I would recommend our app Ako Marketing app which helps merchants to be beneficial by enabling loyalty programs.Best wishes! If you have any more questions, or need a free professional consultation, feel free to let us know!

Hi @w23choi_parema

I understand how frustrating it can be to see traffic coming in but no sales converting. Let’s break it down and address some possible issues that could help you turn things around.

1. Website Experience & Usability

  • First Impressions Matter: When I visited your site, the design was clean, but is it engaging enough? Check if your homepage clearly conveys why your products are unique and worth buying. Highlight benefits like quality, sustainability, or exclusivity upfront.
  • Navigation: Make sure it's super simple for visitors to explore products. If they have to hunt for what they want, they'll leave. Add a visible "Shop Now" or "Best Sellers" section on your homepage.
  • Loading Speed: If your website takes more than 2-3 seconds to load, it might be costing you conversions. Use tools like Google PageSpeed Insights to optimize performance.

2. Product Pages

  • High-Quality Product Photos: Invest in professional mockups or photos that showcase the products in real-life settings. This makes a big difference in print-on-demand clothing.
  • Descriptions: Are your descriptions clear, detailed, and appealing? Instead of just listing materials, explain how it feels, fits, and why it’s perfect for your audience.
  • Call-to-Action (CTA): Add CTAs like "Buy Now," "Limited Stock," or "Free Shipping" to create urgency.

Here’s an example of a product description rewrite:
“Our minimalist graphic tees are made from 100% organic cotton for all-day comfort. Perfect for casual weekends or making a subtle style statement. Don’t wait—add this to your wardrobe today!”

3. Trust Factors

  • Social Proof: Add reviews or testimonials from friends, family, or anyone who has tested your product. If you're just starting, offer samples to influencers or micro-influencers in exchange for reviews.
  • Policies: Display clear refund, shipping, and exchange policies. Customers want to feel secure when buying.
  • Trust Badges: Include secure payment badges or certifications (e.g., “SSL Secured,” “100% Satisfaction Guarantee”).

4. Targeting & Marketing

  • Audience Misalignment?: Double-check if your Google and Instagram ads are targeting the right people. Refine your targeting by analyzing the data from your campaigns—look at age, gender, location, and interests.
  • Retargeting Ads: Many visitors don’t buy on their first visit. Use retargeting ads to follow up with them. Offer discounts like, “Hey, you left this behind! Enjoy 10% off on your first order.”
  • Social Media Content: Build a stronger Instagram presence by posting user-generated content, style guides, or behind-the-scenes clips. Show people how your products fit into their lives.

5. Pricing & Incentives

  • Pricing Too High?: Compare your prices to similar competitors. Are you offering enough value for the price?
  • First-Time Discounts: Use pop-ups or banners to offer 10%-15% off for first-time buyers to encourage purchases. Use apps like Privy or Klaviyo to set this up.

6. Analyze the Traffic

  • Use tools like Google Analytics to check where visitors drop off (e.g., are they leaving on the product page or checkout page?).
  • Heatmaps (e.g., Hotjar) can help you see what people are clicking on and where they’re losing interest.

7. Checkout Process

  • Abandoned Cart Recovery: Add email reminders for visitors who leave items in their cart. Include a discount or free shipping offer to reel them back in.
  • Simplify Checkout: Ensure your checkout process is smooth with minimal steps. Offer multiple payment options like PayPal, credit cards, or even Apple Pay.

Here’s a quick visual checklist to make these fixes easier:

I know this feels overwhelming, but implementing even a few of these changes can make a difference. Let me know which area you'd like to dive deeper into—I’d be happy to guide you step by step.

If you need any other assistance, feel free to reply and I will try my best to help.
Best regards,
Daisy
