How can I improve customer conversion on my GutterWit store?

Hey y'all! I am just starting out and I had a decent amount of traffic come through but they never seem to go through with it. Could you guys please check out my shopify store and give me insight on it. Please check it out on desktop and mobile because it's different on both. I set it up to appeal to the younger generation and don't know if I went overboard. My store name is GutterWit.com. Please share yours in the comments too and I'll try and help you if I can. Thanks y'all 🙂

Hi VonLycan, thanks for posting on the Shopify community. A couple of feedback at first glance:
1. Might be better to use a clear background for your logo for a cleaner look (change the color of the little persons)
2. Your hero banner is cut off if my browser is not on max... might want to fix that. Also I would suggest doing a cleaner banner overall to make the site look more credible.
3. Add call to action button on all your product "add to cart" or "shop now" under each of your items.
4. Finally if you already have existing customers, please install a post-purchase survey app. You can ask these design related questions to your real customers via a 5 seconds test post purchase survey.

I hope this helps!

Thank you for the feedback I really appreciate it. I have been searching forever and I can't seem to find out how to add an "add to cart" button under my products.

Hi @VonLycan ,

This is Kate from PageFly - Shopify Page Builder App.

I'm genuinely impressed, especially knowing you're just starting out. Your site has a stylish flair while remaining clean and clear. I took a look at your store and have a few suggestions tied to your queries that might help boost your conversion rates.

1. Homepage

  • Add a Call-To-Action (CTA) button for the hero banner: Your banner contains lots of information and products, but it’s missing a CTA button. For example: “Buy now”, “Shop now”, …

  • Optimize the custom-design banner: Add a contact or CTA button to make it easier for customers to reach out and share their ideas with you. Additionally, the banner currently has four different text sizes. Consider reorganizing for better consistency.

2. Product page

  • Add images of people wearing your tees: This allows customers to see how your tees look in real life.
  • Include close-up images of the fabric: Even though you have a detailed product description, some people may overlook it. Enhance their purchasing experience by making it easier for them to visualize and draw attention to your key content.

3. Collection page

  • Add a CTA button for each product: So that your customers can easily add your product to their cart.

 4. Boost sales extra tips from me

To optimize the conversion rates for your store, here are some suggestions for you to consider. If they make sense to you, please give them a thumbs-up or mark them as a solution.

  • Create special offers: To live up your store, highlight your product, and upsell. PageFlyKate_2-1697684255039.png
  • Add a countdown timer: To create a sense of urgency and encourage them to make the purchase now rather than later.

  • Get your store ready for upcoming holidays: By decorating your store and make it look festive. Sometime excitement drives people to makes purchases.

While the product examples I've provided here aren't directly related to yours, their underlying concept is something for you to consider.

I hope you find these suggestions beneficial. Have a wonderful day, and all the best with your endeavors. Keep up the great work!

Cheers,

Kate | PageFly team

Hi @VonLycan,

Here's some thoughts about which areas of your website could be improved.

1) I find that the skull image that users first see when they enter your website is quite low resolution (same thing goes for the second, cloud image in the slideshow). This is important as it immediately damages your credibility, even though it might seem like a small point. Brand trust is very important when converting website visitors, so making sure that everything seems professional and clean is vital.

2) I wasn't quite sure what your store was all about until I scrolled down and started going through some of the products - then I started to appreciate the 'feel' of the brand. Potentially consider changing the skull image to a collection of t-shirts to immediately give a sense of what you provide (I see this is the 'second slide' on the main page, but I'd put this first).

3) Statements like 'prices will fluctuate' are not critical to have as one of the first things visitors see when they come to your website. Everything should be focussed on what you do and the value you provide, and not on the minor details.

4) Minor point, but the Tiktok CTA (LOL with Us) doesn't quite sound right and comes across as trying to 'force fit in' with a younger generation. I think something simple like 'Follow us on Tiktok' might work better.

Overall the main thing I would change is meeting visitors with a clean, single front page image + short statement of description showing the types of amusing t-shirts you offer.

Apologies if I came off as too critical - there are many things I like about your store, such as the t-shirts themselves, they are great 😂

All the best, Jack.

Definitely not too critical this is exactly what I wanted. Thank you 🙂

Hi

A few more points you might want to consider:

1. For desktop browsers change the hamburger menu to text links menu in your navigation bar. The hamburger menu is for mobile devices.

2. Make your call to action buttons (eg Add to cart) stand out more by making them a contrasting colour (maybe red?). Also do the same with your promo bar in your header.

3. Personally I'd make the page background colour white for a more professional look.

Hope that helps.

Hey @VonLycan.

Thanks for reaching out.

I appreciate that you have included your online store URL for us to explore! Looking into your store - what do you think about including a slideshow section as the first section for the homepage? You can add a slideshow section under the header navigation menu to strengthen your brand. This can allow you to add multiple images as slides to showcase your products. For example, you can add your best sellers or favorite products to the slides. This can also allow your visitors to learn more about the business and products as soon as they arrive on the homepage.

Add product reviews to your product pages to allow your customers to share their experience. This can provide potential buyers with a sense of security about making purchases knowing that they can share their thoughts. This can help encourage a purchase. We do have available applications on the Shopify App store that can assist you with allowing your customers to write reviews. I created a list of third-party applications that may peak your interest here

Add more social media icons to the footer of the store. If you have more social media business pages, you can add them as icons to the footer section of the store by navigating to Theme Settings. I took a screenshot of the section I am referring to:
