Re: Store Feedback

How can I improve customer experience on my e-commerce site?

Hi all,

I have officially had my website up for a month. But wanted to get feedback from the Shopify community to hopefully improve the customer experience and site overall. I already made some changes based on research I have done so I am hoping my website is going in the right direction to get more traffic and hopefully sales soon. Let me know your recommendations and/or suggestions. Here is the link to website: https://www.beautifulme-shop.com/ and thank you! 🙂

There's nothing that sticks out to me as 'broken' or done incorrectly. There are a few nit-picky things I would change though, if it were my site.

  • make the logo larger (there's some text above and below the main image in the logo, but it's too small to read) ... otherwise, remove the 'unreadable' text from the logo, if you want to keep it the same size.
  • in your footer, where you have your copyright text and links to your policies -- center that whole thing, instead of having it be left-aligned.
  • move everything in the "shop" drop-down menu to the main navigation menu (ie. remove the dropdown) and then for the 'collections' (ex. black history month, valentines day, black in tech), have those show on your https://beautifulme-store.com/collections/ page, but edit that page, so that it doesn't show the 'earrings' + 'necklaces' + 'homepage' collections ... just have it show your collection-collections ... if that makes sense (haha). Also, add some spacing at the bottom of that page.
  • right above your footer menu, where you have your social media icons, I'd add some spacing above the icons, or else reduce the spacing below them.
  • add some more information to your 'contact' page ... looks pretty sketchy, without having a location/address/email, or even just a paragraph saying that you're happy to help folks. Bonus points if you add an image too.
  • remove the 'home' link from your navigation menu (people can just click your logo to get back to the homepage).
  • use a lighter shade of pink for the site's header/navigation background (it's a little hard to read the text in the nav menu with the current background)
  • add additional images to your products -- the current ones are good, but it would also be nice to see the products on a real person (rather than just on a table/display/etc. The images you have in your video on the homepage would be good examples of what I mean.
  • add some padding to the bottom of your 'terms of service' and 'privacy policy' pages
  • you need to edit your privacy policy, as there are still 'placeholders' in there (that you never edited)
  • add at least 2 more blog posts, so that the blog post section on the homepage has the full 3 posts, needed to fill the space
  • get a new banner image (that doesn't have a white/plain background) for the homepage
  • add some more 'featured collection' sections to the homepage

Hope the above helps! 🙂

Hi @beautifulme

This is MooseDesk - All-in-one solution for ecommerce customer service app. We are also passionate about improving UX and customer success.

First of all, congratulation on your store. It looks good, but I do have some comments to make the good gets even better. Here are some of my recommendations.

1. Home Page

MooseDesk_0-1707102854317.png

- The Hero Section is the first thing potential customers will see so showing a bespoke image is needed to hook them into scrolling the store. You might want to add a picture showing your products so customers can be more intrigued.

- A main CTA is also needed as well, you can guide them to a product page of a winning product or a section of your homepage that shows product collection

- You should make the header sticky so customers can easily jump from page to page

MooseDesk_1-1707103168091.png

- CTA button under product should be more outstanding. You can try to add some padding and margin for it (like the View All button) to make it look more eye-catching

- Add secondary hover image for your product so potential customers can have a second look of the product 🙂

2. Product page

MooseDesk_2-1707103946252.png

- A product page should have from 3-5 product pictures so potential customers can have as many views of the product as they want. This would make they be more sure to buy

MooseDesk_3-1707104540071.png

- The contrast ratio of text color and background color is quite low. This would make reading product description harder. You can use this tool to check what the contrast ratio: https://coolors.co/contrast-checker/896382-ffafe0

3. Support

Your store currently does not have a support widget. It's very important to create a place where customers can easily feedback their experience or ask  about products. You can either create a support widget or create a help center so customers can proactively seek answers to their questions.

After all, we are selling online and the more answers they got, the higher chance to get them buy, 🙂

You can try MooseDesk app  - an app dedicated for support with ticket management system, support widget, FAQ Help Center page. Currently we are offered for FREE so you dont have to worry about the cost 🙂

This would mean so much to me. Thank you and hope you get a lovely day ahead 😉

Hi Beautifulme,

This is Amee from Gojiberry - Shopify Survey & Feedback App

Congratulations on getting your site up! I caught a few things that might help you improve your store:

1. Your banner is a bit blurry -- try to use sharper images to make your site look more professional
Screenshot 2024-02-05 at 17.25.04.png

2. Your use of font seems not aligned with what you are selling. Also while your product background is consistent, the roses in the background take focus away from your main product. I would focus on getting a clean and crisp image of your product with minimalist background so people will focus on the product more.

3. Choose a different cover photo for your video. For a moment I thought there was a glitch on your site, but then realised it was a video.

The Ultimate 12 Best Practices to Growing Your Shopify Store

Hi @beautifulme

I'm Garcia from PageFly - Shopify Landing Page Builder app.

Congratulations on your store! Your website layout is well-organized and easy to scan. You might put many efforts on this. Based on my experience about CRO, I have a few small suggestions that might help improve your sales:

1/ Improve your hero banner

PageFlyGarcia_0-1707096594863.png

Your website's hero banner is like a handshake at your digital door. It sets the tone, makes the first impression, and determines if visitors stay or click away. So, to make it really clear what you're offering within just 5 seconds, you should:

  • Have Heading + CTA on the hero banner, the text on image can be blurry on high resolution screen
  • Display your attractive products on your banners and menu
  • Grab attention and clarify your offering instantly: A boldest headline and tempting "click now" button to the banner's center stage

Take a look at our free template below:

2/ Add thumbnail for this video

PageFlyGarcia_2-1707096594909.png

There are some white spaces here make the visitors might think that it gets error and the “play” button is not highlighted enough to click on. Please consider to improve it

3/ Clear and easy “Add to cart and Checkout” process

A clear and prominent CTA button on your homepage is crucial for an online store. This button guides customers to the most important action you want them to take.

Your current “Add to cart” is less attractive than “View more” button:

If there are some Product list with ATC on the homepage, the merchant might add them directly, for example:

It’s better if we have a pop-up cart after I added an item to it. I think you should check if your current theme support for this feature or not.

4/ Have testimonial, brand story on your website

Including a section about your brand story or customer review can help customers learn more about your business and make your store appear more professional and increase your reliability.

You should add star review on your product to increase the customer’s trust.

5/ Promote Valentine discount, bundles

As I can see, you're already gearing up with Valentine's Day content.  I'd like to offer some additional suggestions to help your store stand out and flourish during this special season.

  • Countdown timer: This can be particularly effective for limited-time offers, Valentine sales events, or when highlighting the scarcity of a product.
  • By using free image sources, you can save money and create a beautiful holiday website that will engage your visitors. Here are some great free image sources for you: Freepik, Unsplash, ...
  • Product promotion or giveaway: Offer a special promotion or a giveaway on a popular item. This could be a contest where the prize is a romantic dinner for two or a coveted product that fits the Valentine's theme.

Hope these suggestions help! If you have any further questions, please feel free to let me know.

Hoping you shimmy and shake your way into 2024!

Best regards,

Garcia | PageFly team
