How can I improve my first online store for more sales?

So I have a few store visits but no sales. How can I get my first sale? Is there a problem with the checkout process? Is my page not trendy enough?

I would appreciate some honest feedback as it's my first store and I'm determined to make it work.

Also, is a domain highly suggested or am I okay keeping the default domain?

Hello @GoverNaz I’ve had a proper look at your store and here are a few suggestions on how it could be improved.

1) The social media accounts of the business should be linked at the bottom of the homepage. This would help make connections between your store and the customers much easier.

2) There should be a FAQ homepage on your store. Considering that you deal with hair products and what not, customers would particularly have a lot of curious questions which you could provide answers for ahead of time.

3) Bundling products like a straightening brush and essential oil together at the sale of one product price can help optimize sales. Thanks a lot Ray. I will use the bundler app to create enticing deals for customers and I will set up a FAQ homepage very soon once the traffic begins to build up as advertising is my main priority atm. May you inform me how to link the social media accounts at the bottom of the page?

  • Footer: For the Quick links, I suggest adding more menus to it (for example: collections, all products, contact, about,..). Having only Search makes it look empty

  • Review hero banner: You can add a short description about your store on the hero banner - this would be the very first message visitors receive when coming to your store. An image without any description is a little bit confusing. Aside from this, it’s recommended to show the Call To Action button within above-the-fold area (the visible area without scrolling down). This will help you reduce bounce rate, as many visitors will just check the above-the-fold area and bounce out.




  • Avoid cramping: A cramped website is an unprofessional website. You can consider adding more spacing to your section - being spacious makes it easier to read as well




  • Improve product list: Make sure content of the whole section is visible within 1 screen size - if it’s longer, visitors will find it hard to understand the section content, and can easily miss it. In this case, I suggest you reduce product image to ensure section size fit with the screen.




On the other hand, make sure all product images are the same size. The difference in product image size makes it look unprofessional, and will reduce the chance visitors purchase products.




  • Add testimonials to home page: Having customers’ testimonials can increase your store trustworthiness. With each testimonial, you can show the product which the customer has purchased, along with an Add To Cart/ Quick Buy button - this can increase the chance for the product to be bought. Here is an example:

  • Improve page layout: You may want to keep the product image sticky - in this way we can avoid the blank space on the left side like this




  • Allow writing review: On each product page, I suggest adding a section where customers can add their review and see other people’s feedback as well. This will increase the credibility of your product, and thus increase the chance of the product being bought.

3. Spotlights female staff
